What is the opportunity?
RBC Insurance is seeking a Senior Financial Operations Specialist to support our Group Annuity line of business. In this role, you will ensure data integrity, quality control and the accurate administration of Group Annuity plans. You will be responsible for leading payroll operations and reporting ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, compliant and timely payroll processing while driving continuous improvement and operational resilience. The successful candidate will bring deep payroll expertise, strong financial acumen and a proactive mindset focused on risk reduction efficiency and scalability.
What will you do?
- Own end to end group annuity payroll operations including buy-in, buy-out and ongoing annuity payroll processing, ensuring accurate accuracy, timeliness and compliance with all processes.
- Strengthen payroll controls and reduce operational risk by identifying discrepancies, resolving issues and implementing robust policies and procedures
- Drive operational efficiency and scalability through automation, workflow standardization and continuous process enhancement
- Serve as the payroll subject-matter expert supporting internal stakeholders including finance, audit and call center on complex payroll, tax, garnishment and compliance matters
- Lead, coach and support team members contributing to knowledge sharing, documentation and operational resilience
- Investigate and resolve data integrity issues, initiate corrective actions and provide solutions for complex cases.
What do you need to succeed?
- Demonstrated experience analyzing financial data, producing reports, and identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Comfort operating in a high-volume regulated environment with tight timelines
- Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities and ability to manage tasks independently and adapt to changes.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work, maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and take initiative to implement solutions to enhance efficiency.
What You Bring:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Payroll, Accounting, Business, or Finance.
- Canadian Payroll designation (PCP) is preferred.
- 7-10 years of extensive experience in payroll operations ideally with financial services, insurance, pensions or annuities
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

Compensation for this position (including salary and discretionary/variable payments) will be determined by factors, including but not limited to candidate's experience, skills, registration status, performance, individual goals, market conditions, and business needs.
Pay Range
The expected pay range for this position is:
$67,000.00 - $110,000.00The pay range provided is for the primary work location referenced in the Additional Job Details section of this job posting. Pay ranges may differ based on location. If the posting lists multiple job locations, a recruiter can confirm availability of the role and the relevant pay rage for the additional locations listed.
