What is the opportunity?
In the role of Risk Analyst you will assist in the monitoring of all aspects of risk at RBC Investment Management. This includes transaction monitoring, valuation and performance measurement duties. You will also assist the Manager Risk in conducting transaction monitoring on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis and reporting on any non-compliant trades.
What do you need to succeed?
- Assist the Manager – Risk in tracking all portfolios to ensure conformity with internal and statutory guidelines as well as mutual fund prospectuses
- Collect the data required for the implementation of market risk measures
- Monitor price movements in accordance with the Pricing Policy
- Monitor and reporting on Aged Interest & Maturity payments
- Check the information on all new cusips for accuracy and completeness to ensure ready access to information on the portfolios along a number of dimensions
- Update credit ratings on all cusips in the database of securities whenever credit ratings are revised
- Assist the Manager – Risk in preparing risk reports for quarterly submission to the Investment Policy Committee
- Assisting the Manager – Risk in monitoring and closing all outstanding audit issues raised by external or internal auditors
- Conducting any other reporting required by the unit
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- First Degree in Finance/ Economics/ Business Administration or equivalent, evidencing knowledge of the principles and practices of financial and risk analysis
- Ability to interpret financial data and recommend proper course of action
- Must have knowledge of multiple asset classes
- Working knowledge of risk systems and analytics
- Understanding of financial indicators and specific drivers of value in listed companies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge and experience in investments and market risk will be an asset
