What is the opportunity?
RBC Capital Markets Global Investment Banking is seeking an Analyst to join its RBC Capital Markets Real Estate Group (“REG”) in Toronto. The Analyst will provide quantitative, analytical and marketing support to REG’s debt advisory and property brokerage team across a variety of commercial real estate transactions.
RBC Capital Markets Real Estate Group is the largest dedicated real estate corporate finance group in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Montréal and Calgary. The REG’s capabilities span Equity and Debt Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Advisory & Valuation for public, private, corporate and government owners of real estate. Our highly experienced team works closely with the firm’s M&A, ECM, DCM, and Leveraged Finance professionals to advise clients.
What will you do?
Evaluate and analyze the financial needs of clients, including developing complex financial models
Perform financial analysis, valuations and due diligence for real estate properties and portfolios
Maintain and analyze real estate research and market intelligence databases, while staying current with major real estate listings and sales transactions across Canada
Review and summarize property leases and other legal documents, financing documents, appraisals, building condition assessments and environmental reports
Structure, compile, and draft presentations, including investment offering summaries, confidential information memoranda, pitch & advisory presentations, responses to RFPs, and other ad-hoc market and industry research reports
Support transaction structuring and execution efforts, with increasing levels of responsibility and accountability over time
Financial and written analysis of companies and industries
Contributing to the delivery of client meetings and presentations
Conducting research to analyze market trends
Researching and analyzing future opportunities
Contribute to the execution of debt financing and property brokerage mandates
What do you need to succeed?
1-2 years of investment banking, private equity, equity research, M&A / corporate development or accounting experience
CFA, CPA or other relevant professional designations are considered an asset but not a requirement
Familiarity with ARGUS Enterprise software, Altus Group data platforms (e.g., RealNet, Insite) and/or Adobe Creative Suite
Undergraduate degree program in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or a quantitative field from a leading university
Strong computer skills, including high proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Proven interest in commercial real estate and basic industry knowledge
Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
Strong verbal and written communication skills
A high level of attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
