Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Financial Crimes Training & Communications is responsible for the design, development, and execution of the Financial Crimes (FC) employee learning and communications strategy.

The role manages the design and delivery of classroom and technology-based training programs. Applies extensive, in-depth knowledge, skills, and practices to perform complex assignments.

What will you do?

Developing, designing, and implementing classroom and web-based training programs to meet and anticipate the needs of FC employees and the expectations of regulators. Ensuring the proper preparation, implementation, and management of instructional development projects; developing curricula and their respective materials and allocating necessary resources for projects. Contributing to the selection, development and updating of courseware content for classroom and web-based delivery. Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs to ensure objectives are accomplished and regulatory expectations are met.

FC Learning

  • With an initial focus on the investigations team roles with a goal to eventually expand to all FC roles globally:
    • Identify role-based skills and proficiency levels
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of skills gap assessment
    • Create, roll out, and maintain targeted role and skill-based learning pathways that provide a rich employee experience from onboarding to continued education.
    • As needed, design, create, and deliver training content
    • Research, identify and manage relationships with content providers – maintain an inventory of such providers and their expertise
    • Create, implement, and manage an annual learning plan aligned to FC strategic initiatives and regulatory expectations, obtain, and manage funding
    • Enhance and maintain tracking and reporting mechanism(s) necessary to provide evidence of regulatory readiness
  • With a focus on all FC employees:
    • Assist FC employees in navigating RBC training resources.
    • Curate industry learning resources (e.g., webinars, podcasts, conferences etc.) and communicate them in an easily digestible and accessible, role-specific fashion.
    • Be the central point of contact and resource for FC employees for ACAMS and ACSS. Manage the RBC relationship with ACAMS and ACSS, including risk assessments, annual enrollments, payments, contracts, and ad hoc requests.
    • Procure third party vendors for learning initiatives and as well as the respective reoccurring necessary activities during the life a relationship with the third-party vendor, including: selecting service providers, performing risk assessment, obtaining approvals and funding, on boarding, invoicing.
  • With a focus on supporting the Director, Financial Crimes Training & Communications
    • Track and record FC tailored training globally
    • As needed, support in the maintenance of the Enterprise training program and specialized courses
    • As needed, provide regulatory reporting

FC Communications

  • Own, lead, implement and maintain the communication channels for Financial Crimes and its employees – FC newsletter, Connect, RBCnet, RBC.com – providing FC subject matter expertise into the content of these channels. Provide ongoing strategy direction and innovative transformation.
  • Define FC communication KPI’s to measure/track performance of various communication initiatives and strategically initiate transformation as needed.
  • Soliciting employee feedback and incorporating it into future enhancements for employee communications.
  • Providing strategic advice and hands on support to FC team members to ensure quality and effectiveness of communications (for example – Connect site, presentations).
  • Supporting the Director FC Training and Communications in the execution of all FC communications events and initiatives.
  • Contributes to the FC Governance team by supporting ad hoc requests and day to day activities when needed.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 2-4 years experience with a Financial Crimes team of a regulated entity.

  • Professional experience in developing and implementing informal and formal learning strategies and projects within a large, complex corporate environment, preferably with global scope.
  • Proven skill and capability in learning design and development at the curriculum, course and module level in all channels of learning design (including digital multimedia).
  • Demonstrated effective project management processes and practices in executing on learning solutions.
  • Demonstrated effective relationship management skills in working collaboratively with project teams comprised of internal and external learning colleagues, subject matter experts and business leaders.
  • Demonstrates expertise in written communication.
  • Multimedia experience with digital channels; comfortable with web design tools.
  • Instructional design diploma or certificate or professional experience in adult education and/or learning and development.
