Job Description

What is the opportunity?

RBC Global Asset Management (GAM) is a provider of global investment management services and solutions to institutional, high-net-worth and individual investors through separate accounts, pooled funds, mutual funds, hedge funds, exchange-traded funds and specialty investment strategies.

The Enterprise Distribution Strategy (EDS) team provides support to licensed advisors in the Canadian Banking Mutual Fund Distribution network on GAM’s view of the global economy, capital markets and RBC GAM investment solutions. This extends to all Canadian Banking sales roles (including, but not limited to, Banking Advisors, Financial Advisors, Financial Planners, Investment Retirement Planners, Invest by Phone Investment Advisors, etc.).


Working in partnership with Regional Managers, Global Asset Management (GAM), your key responsibility is to build and cultivate new relationships, as well as enhance existing relationships with financial planners and key internal & external stakeholders in a defined region.

You will also work closely with the EDS Strategy & Enablement team, who lead overall event management, content, reporting and analytics development for the broader Enterprise distribution team.

What will you do?

  • Triage and answer all investment related questions to support inquiries from Canadian Banking advisory roles via Regional Manager Mass Affluent Advisory Support team; specifically assists Financial Planners (FP), Investment and Retirement Planners (IRP)

  • Partner with the Regional Manager, Mass Affluent Advisor Support to establish and support strategic business plan for the territory with defined sales targets

  • Provide value added insight, content and ideas about capital markets, economics, and investment instrument

  • Proactively work with Regional Managers to enhance relationships with new and existing IRP & FP teams by booking presentations, appointments and team meetings for the RM to deliver quarterly themes and priorities

  • Proactively Provide data analytics and content requests related to market, industry and mutual fund analysis

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • Completion the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and or Investment Funds in Canada Course (IFIC)

  • Previous experience in a sales or client-facing role, ideally in a financial services capacity

  • Excellent working knowledge of Power Point, Word and Excel Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent knowledge of/and genuine interest in capital markets and financial instruments

Nice to Have:

  • Completion of, or enrolment in an advanced financial services designation such as CIM, CFP, IQPF &/or CFA

  • University degree or equivalent, preferably in Commerce, Economics, Finance or related Some previous experience with training development and/or delivery

  • Experience working in the financial services industry

  • Experience working with Bloomberg or Morningstar terminals
