What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a Global Issues Policy Lead to support RBC’s ability to track, interpret, and communicate global developments that matter most to Canada’s economic and strategic position in the world. This role will focus on the intersections of geopolitics, market dynamics, and Canadian competitiveness.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and strong communicator with a passion for connecting complex geopolitical developments to Canadian business, government, and policy priorities. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and senior leaders to shape RBC’s perspective on Canada’s evolving place in the world.

What will you do?

  • Research and monitor major geopolitical themes, trends, and risks with implications for Canada’s economy, industries, and global trade.
  • Produce regular insights, briefs, and scenario analyses for senior leaders
  • Support on major pieces exploring Canada’s evolving global challenges and opportunities.
  • Support leadership in advising internal groups across RBC on global situations and emerging risks.
  • Build relationships with external leading institutions
  • Support RBC’s engagement with government, regulators, and international organizations on geopolitical and trade-related issues.
  • Support the development of high-profile thought leadership programs, including flagship reports, briefings, etc.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Proven experience in international relations, geopolitics, economics, or a related field—ideally with a blend of private sector, government, or think tank exposure.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex global issues and communicate them in clear, compelling ways.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to craft influential reports, op-eds, or policy briefs.
  • Ability to build networks and collaborate across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset, with a focus on linking geopolitical analysis to business and economic outcomes.

Nice-to-have

  • Advanced degree in international affairs, economics, political science, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong grasp of data tools, research methodologies, and applied economic or social analysis.
