What is the opportunity?
The role of Lead Systems Engineer within RBC’s Cloud organization has responsibility for designing and building cutting-edge cloud deployment platforms and driving the enterprise's transition to a hybrid cloud environment. This role collaborates with a passionate team of cloud engineers, tackling complex technical challenges, developing innovative multi-cloud and multitenant solutions using technologies like Kubernetes, and promoting modern practices such as Infrastructure as Code and GitOps.
This position is full time and will require you to work a minimum of 4 days in the office per week with the option to work one day from home.
What will you do?
Participate in the design, engineering, and integration of the current and future cloud platforms, technologies and tools.
Develop criteria and participate in the evaluation of third-party vendors and software, as well as due diligence exercises.
Design and implement highly available, scalable and resilient applications and infrastructure for both cloud-native and hybrid technology stacks.
Develop detailed plans and accurate estimates for the design, build, implementation, and stabilization phases of the release process.
Implement capabilities using Kubernetes, Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps, and Operators.
Oversee testing and verification for all interfaces.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define, plan and execute high level team activities, including architecture recommendations and process improvements.
Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, risk remediation, and cost optimization activities to ensure compliant and efficient use of cloud resources.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Advanced experience in design and engineering solutions with Azure infrastructure, Terraform and Kubernetes.
Experience with developing Kubernetes extended features like operators and Go Programming
Working knowledge of Helm, Flux, and ArgoCD.
Experience in designing and implementing advanced CI/CD pipelines with Github Action and Jenkins.
Strong communication skills necessary to work on a geographically distributed team.
Nice-to-have
Experience of working in a Wealth Management Financial service.
