Job Description

What is the opportunity?

We are hiring a Senior Quality Engineer Analyst - in Toronto. Working with our QE teams, you will design solutions to testing problems the business faces through the implementation of contextually relevant process and practice, the use of tools and technology, and by applying soft skills such as effective communication in industry-standard & RBC Quality Engineering methodologies. You are a technical specialist focusing on test case design and optimization with modeling tools, test automation, implementation, use & enablement of the QE function and will provide technical test design and planning in your area of expertise.

You will be accountable for maximizing automation test coverage and using business analysis and automation techniques to optimize testing activities. You will be responsible for developing and executing automation and manual test plans for ecosystem/program/large projects. You will support and coaching junior resources on test execution and automation.

The incumbent will develop testing plans, ensure adherence to the company's standards, maintain QE documentation, and communicate with development teams and stakeholders to suggest improvements. The incumbent will deliver QE Automation solutions, engineer and deploy solutions. You are not afraid of challenging the team on details and be able to think strategically.

What will you do?

  • Supporting or leading the execution of automated and manual testing, processes and tools, and utilization of organizational change management practices to drive support and empower staff in assigned unit.

  • Providing recommendations and contributing to test strategy & technical solutions in area of expertise, including leading QE work streams.

  • Participating in and providing input during Agile ceremonies like Sprint planning, grooming sessions, stand-up meetings, demo sessions, and retrospective meetings

  • Coordinating or leading E2E and integration testing, and provide stakeholder communication and reporting.

  • Providing application subject matter expertise and leadership on test case design and test architecture, including integration & end-to-end testing.

  • Assisting with or designing test cases for given requirements/user stories either manually; Preparing test plan/strategy documents as per SDLC including estimation

  • Automating test cases using RBC recommended automation framework, as per acceptance criteria, executing test cases manually and/or running the automated test scripts

  • Potential to coordinate QE tasks and deliverables with vendor partner staff located in offshore locations.

  • Develop existing applications automation scripts for test activities and aligning to RBC Quality Engineering practices while partnering across IT and with assigned business lines to plan functional and nonfunctional testing activities

  • Responsible for manual test execution and maximizing automation for all project deliverables and for following defined processes and tools and alignment with overall QE strategy and framework for 2023 targets

  • Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close

  • Promotes collaboration and partnering to develop and meet core project objectives and provides coaching to team members on QE, Agile, DevOps and applicable RBC processes, practices and tools

  • Help build a strong automation regression suites and Sanity tests suites CT

  • Look outside for opportunities to disrupt from within and continually expand what is possible through technology

  • Work within a cross functional team aimed at delivering high valued solutions

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have:

  • Experience with Cheques & Payments transaction processing

  • 5+ Quality Engineering experience with strong communication and test planning skills.

  • 5+ years testing experience with an expertise in test automation framework/tools and mentoring other QE in the team (Selenium, Java, BDD via Cucumber)

  • Experience with test management tools such as QTest, Jira and Confluence and source configuration tools like Github

  • Experience in a QE/test environment with a focus on technical, automated testing in a variety of environments (distributed, cloud and mainframe, business workflows and services/APIs, databases)

  • Experience working with software delivery methodologies, frameworks and best practices (Agile and Iterative Waterfall) and DevOps operations and integration of testing into the DevOps pipeline

Nice-to-have

  • Hands-on programming experience (e.g., Java, C, C++ etc.) is a strong asset

  • Experience working in a SaaS environment is a strong asset
