What is the opportunity?
The Personal Banking industry is rapidly changing with digitization of products, services, and channels, emerging non-traditional competitors, changing client demographics, preferences, and choices, and heightened regulatory attention. This role will play a critical role in designing and delivering advanced analytics aimed at identifying and understanding root causes of regulatory and risk issues that pose significant risk to the bank. The role will develop and maintain reporting that provides insights onto how identified risks are tracking and where attention needs to be focused by management. The role will also collaborate with a diverse set of colleagues from across the enterprise (within Personal Bank, Commercial Bank, Operations, T&O, HR, Compliance, Group Risk, etc.) to ensure the right risks are identified and appropriate requirements are built into the analysis and reporting tools.
What will you do?
Data Analysis & Insights
Work with team members and experts from across the enterprise to design and develop analytics to identify root cause of issues that can negatively impact RBC’s reputation and/or regulatory compliance
Develop insights that will support in decision making and help identify how to mitigate risks
Develop and maintains reporting during project life cycle and finds opportunities to streamline and minimize work effort.
Build on the knowledge of subject matter experts (within Personal Banking and across the enterprise) to analyze structured and unstructured data for new or existing risks.
Participate in projects and providing expertise on data analytics, methodologies and design of metrics.
Plan and oversee the execution of testing on all analytical tools developed for building and maintaining analytical outputs.
Business Analysis & Documentation
Create documentation that will support the sign off metric builds, reports, and analysis with key stakeholders
Manage detailed business requirement phases identifying, tracking and resolving business systems issues.
Research, analyze and document sponsor/stakeholder needs in accordance with Project Life Cycle and CMM deliverables utilizing reporting tools, requirements.
Research emerging trends/best practices and determine implications of proposed solutions on meeting business unit strategy.
Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs continually exploring and assessing options for value-add.
Relationships & Communication
Build strong partnerships with key partners from Personal Banking, Compliance, HR, GRM, technology and data partners, etc.
Facilitate complex group meetings and conduct information gathering sessions.
Prepare and deliver presentations to partners and management, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
4 - 8 years' relevant experience
Strong data analysis skills and strong knowledge of the DWE.
Expert data extract, transform, and load processes with variety of data types
Experience with Hadoop, noSQL/SQL databases, Python and SAS
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal); ability to communicate with people in a wide variety of areas and at various levels from technical specialists to executives
Strong problem solving and analytical ability
Ability to quickly and efficiently adapt to new concepts
Ability to work collaborative with cross-function teams and business units
Nice to have:
Experience with analyzing risks and developing controls
