What is the Opportunity?

We are seeking an Actuarial Associate to join our RBC Insurance front-office Investments Asset-Liability Management (ALM) team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing ALM models that support the effective management of liability risk positions arising from changes in the financial markets, including interest rates, credit, foreign exchange, inflation and equity.

What will you do?

  • Support Senior Manager to develop financial modeling solution to identify, measure, monitor, and report key liability information for all insurance products on daily basis.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers to ensure the models are fit-for-purpose.
  • Collaborate with the data team to design, develop, and automate financial modeling processes, enhancing efficiency, reliability, and scalability of analytical frameworks.
  • Build and maintain forecasting tools to project liability cash flows under base and stressed macroeconomic scenarios.
  • Contribute to the development of dashboards and visualization tools that enable senior leadership to understand the drivers of liability changes and ALM performance.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have:

  • 2+ years of experience as an AXIS model developer or in equivalent liability modeling roles, with a strong background in building and maintaining actuarial or financial models.
  • Proficiency in data handling and statistical modeling techniques, with demonstrated ability to develop financial models and automate analytical processes for improved efficiency and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of insurance product features and associated risks.
  • Critical thinker with a strong focus on identifying what truly matters and a continuous curiosity to learn and explore new approaches for simplifying processes and models.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical solutions and results to cross-functional audiences.
