What is the opportunity?
The Associate Director, BCS Advisory will assist in advising key members of the COO leadership team; responsible for financial advisory by building strong connectivity with the COO Functions business and aligning efforts to support their strategic initiatives and enhancing Finance’s partnership.
This role will appeal to individuals who want to work in a fast-paced area that has significant visibility and a high profile across RBC (especially within Capital Markets). What you will do?
- Support continuous monitoring of key metrics by delivering exceptional financial analysis and play a pivotal role in building CM Finance’s capabilities to support CM’s strategic priorities around productivity and efficiency
- Enable strategic business decisions through financials analysis including investment / initiatives prioritization, staffing and asset planning
- Prepare financial materials for COO Leadership Operating Committee (SVP/VP) and BCS Operating Committee to enable strategic decisions on investments, hiring and cost management. This spans both departmental expenditures as well as financial insights and advisory to the group’s interactions with other CM businesses on a recurring basis.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis providing financial insights to CM COO (EVP) and his/her Operating Committee (SVP/VP).
- Further enhance and build on Finance’s internal capabilities in cost reporting to further proliferate learnings and best practices across CM Finance’s Advisory teams.
- Building subject matter expertise on all cost lines and opportunities that can be used to further support cost saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with Platform Performance management team and QTS team to understand all allocated balances to COO Functions.
- Review select month end close activities performed by Manager, COO Functions
What you need to succeed?
Must Have
- 4+ years' experience in management reporting and analysis, stakeholder interactions and relationship management
- Experience in complex wholesale business activity, namely a thorough understanding of Capital Markets businesses and transactions, and associated risks & returns
- Strong team and people management abilities, and ability to play a leadership role across a wide group of peers
- Keen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with ability to multitask and handle high-pressure executive level requests on a continuous basis
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence stakeholders and mobilize groups to deliver on common goals
- Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Able to consistently exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks quickly
- Proactive and persistent in issue resolution
- Very strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills required, with data mining skill and ability to explore new technologies to enhance the delivery of financial information
Nice to Have
- CPA or CFA or Finance MBA
- Solid experience and good understanding of bank structure, risk management concepts, financial markets and instruments
- Experience in financial modelling including understanding of statistics, risk or other quantitative metrics
