What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Advisor Business Development, you are an independent, proactive self-starter, in a face-to-face client relationship role with International Private Banking, Wealth Management. You deliver excellent, and highly personalized financial solutions to a well-heeled, and distinctly wealthy international clientele. Your approach is focused and aligned with risk policy; drawing on your experience to successfully manage a portfolio of households that require sophisticated wealth retention and wealth management strategies on top of daily banking, credit, investment, cash management solutions.

What will you do?

  • Draw on your needs-based sales strategy for all clients and prospects to grow revenue, wallet share, deepen client relationships and achieve a high-quality clientele portfolio.
  • Leverage your flair for business development, and wide network of COIs to prospecting, and lead generation, to new and existing clients.
  • Demonstrate sound portfolio management and risk mitigation through Strategic Client Reviews, Annual Reviews, identifying trends, monitoring risks, and assessing for credit restructuring opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise in industry trends, regulations, and competitive environment to ensure clients receive timely advice tailored to their unique needs.
  • Work in collaboration with industry professionals (e.g. Advisory, Trust, Tax et cetera) to meet the needs of both clients and the business unit.
  • Cultivate and maintain a strong network of internal and external partners.
  • Conduct effective, consistent sales management routines with a team of Peers and Associates to acquire, and onboard new clients and help existing clients with solutions.
  • Develop, update, and maintain an effective business development plan pipeline to achieve overall Business goals, adjusting activities as required for maximal impact.
  • You are committed to the team, and lead by example, you coach and mentor others, and help your colleagues to meet the needs of all clients taking on broader work and accountabilities as they are assigned.
  • You ensure your skill sets and accreditation are updated and keep abreast of information and developments in our industry to meet client advice needs and role requirements while adhering strictly to policies and procedures, legal and ethical requirements and regulations always safeguarding bank and client information and bank reputation.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum 2 years of professional banking experience.
  • Demonstrated passion for putting clients first, and success in client problem resolution.
  • Deep and proven client-centricity in a business development role, especially with respect to growing a book of business organically.
  • Demonstrated new client acquisition skills (i.e., presenting your value proposition, lead generation, asking for referrals).
  • Strong working knowledge of RBC banking and lending policies.
  • Flexibility, eagerness to learn, strong personal ethics, and a passion to develop others.
  • Ability to work independently, with proven time management, organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks is critical.
  • Exceptional client service capability and confidence in engaging clients across multiple channels (i.e., phone, video, etc.) using a friendly, positive, and professional tone.
  • Digital literacy across a broad range of devices (i.e., smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc.) with above average keyboarding skills, internet, and computer navigation.
  • Capability using RBC systems (i.e., Application Launch Pad, CSS, Linx, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Nice-to-have

  • Lending knowledge with risk and financial analysis acumen and credit structuring.
  • Previous experience as a Financial Advisor, Financial Planner, or Business Banker is an asset.
