What is the Opportunity?
As the Lead Data Product Manager, Finance at RBC Insurance, you will play a pivotal role in the organization as we look to redefine processes across the Finance and Actuarial functions to transform the employee experience, improve the organization’s operational resilience and surface better financial insights through Data & Technology. You will develop, design and refine a comprehensive and industry leading Finance and Actuarial reporting cycle product which will simplify and streamline the organization’s IFRS17 key business data and reporting process ensuring alignment with our business goals and user needs. As a highly skilled and visionary Director, you will also be responsible for creating the product vision/strategy, creating product roadmaps, and for leading agile teams to develop and deliver exceptional data products that simplify the way RBCI conducts business across Finance and Actuarial, etc. You will leverage both technical acumen in Data, Technology, Finance and Product Management expertise to ensure material execution of our Finance transformation product roadmap through strong collaboration with the business, functional and technical leads.
What will you do?
Work with Stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Product, Digital/Data and Technology to define the business problem a product will solve and the benefits of solving said problem
Lead a team of strong and proficient product owners
Lead discovery for key use cases to determine desirability, feasibility, usability and viability in partnership with business stakeholders and technical leads
Effectively assess potential solution design options (i.e. build, buy, leverage internal capabilities) to determine optimal product design
Effectively convey/communicate the product vision to the scrum teams, all stakeholders, and interested parties
Collaborate and liase with key business partners and stakeholders in the Digital and Data, Business, Finance, and Actuarial, etc. to conduct discovery, develop business cases and OKRs.
Work with technical lead to translate road map components into technical elements for sprint planning
Work with technical lead to understand delivery timelines, inhibitors to release, and work to overcome blockers
Collaborate with Product Owners, Delivery team, and other team members/stakeholders to identify and execute agile change management and adoption and integration activities
Develop consistent metrics for a group of products and their rationale for measuring success of the solutions (e.g. ROI), as well as the reporting methodology to track value realization.
Evaluate business value achieved versus plan for the product and communicating outcomes to leadership & stakeholders
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
Leadership Experience: At least 10-15 years of experience in the Insurance sector, with a minimum of 10 years in leadership roles.
Financial Accounting Expertise: Strong understanding of IFRS-17 Financial accounting and reporting within the Insurance industry, including data and modelling inputs and outputs.
Product Management Skills: CSPO certification and proven experience in product management, with a focus on guiding agile teams.
Agile Methodologies: Experience working with Kanban and Sprint methodologies, as well as Agile delivery principles.
Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Education: BBA, BSc, or an equivalent qualification.
Nice-to-have
Data and Analytics Expertise: Demonstrated understanding of data pipelines, ELT processes, cloud-based data platforms, data modeling, BI tools, and data governance frameworks.
Advanced Education: MBA or MSc degree is highly desirable.
