Job Summary

Job Description

What will you do?

  • Prepare or support the preparation and reconciliation of financial statement disclosures, board materials and/or regulatory returns at the RBC Consolidated level or legal entity level in accordance with assigned timelines for deliverables, including the preparation of analytical review over fluctuations in balances, maintenance of end-user computing spreadsheets, and evidence of adherence with SOX controls.
  • Prepare journal entries, proof of balance, and reconciliations for review by team members or manager in support of monthly and quarterly close processes.
  • Perform accounting functions such as journal entry posting and reconciliations, and assist with GL Attestations.
  • Support and assist with the gathering and consolidation of financial information and conducting of complex data analysis with large datasets working to identify patterns, trends or insights
  • Support the analysis of reports and related data for completeness, accuracy, consistency with other reported financial information, and data quality issues
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation, accounting guidance, and operational guidance for assigned financial disclosures and regulatory returns
  • Support the investigation of queries and resolution of issues on behalf of internal and external stakeholders with respect to financial disclosures and regulatory returns
  • Support team in identifying, proposing, implementing, and testing reporting solutions for new financial and regulatory reporting initiatives/projects through interpreting requirements, and working with subject matter experts such as Accounting Policy Group, Platform Financial Controllers, Product Controllers, and Finance IT.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus in finance, accounting, business, commerce, mathematics, statistics,
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary school and eligible to complete a work term
  • Very inquisitive having the courage to ask the questions, enthusiastic
  • Excellent MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Data analytics and data visualization tools
  • Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment
  • Able to work effectively and reliably under pressure

Nice-to-have

  • Previous experience working in a financial environment
  • Experience or understanding of financial analysis and financial reporting

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
