Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Play a key role in the risk assessment and continuous risk monitoring for RBC Capital Markets with asset managers, including mutual funds, UCITS, managed accounts. Ensure all credit limit systems are properly recording approvals and assist in the preparation of timely management information reports.

What will you do?

  • Preparation of borrower/counterparty risk analysis and proposed internal ratings
  • Understand and assess risks inherent in (i) the asset management industry and its regulation, (ii) the sponsors and the markets they operate in, (iii) products and (iv) investment strategies
  • Other primary responsibilities that may arise from time to time in support of risk assessment and continuous monitoring.
  • Responsibility for timely completion of investment manager annual reviews and RAFs for a portfolio of counterparties
  • Timely completion of counterparty RAF reviews in line with the Investment Management review schedule
  • Effectiveness of risk analysis contributes to a portfolio-wide risk profile that meets RBC’s risk appetite for the sector.
  • Maintenance and accuracy of limit data within CCMS
  • Participate in due diligence calling program
  • NAV collection, reporting, analysis and NAV ATE waiver completion
  • Contribution to Monthly Watchlist and ad-hoc risk reporting.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of RBC credit policies and guidelines
  • Completion of assigned projects and other duties in an efficient and effective manner that supports business initiatives.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have's

  • Undergrad in business, finance or economics or equivalent
  • At least 3 years financial work experience
  • Understanding and knowledge of fund industry and securities regulations governing funds
  • Self - starter with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to establish priorities, multi-task with accompanying attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret, explain and communicate opinions and recommendations using strong verbal and written skills
  • Problem solving skills. Technical Familiarity and basic understanding of Capital Markets products
  • Understanding of credit risk
  • Advanced data and computer management skills including proficiency with Excel
