What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Commercial Banking, P&CB Finance will provide financial advice and counsel for selected client segments including working closely with the Commercial Banking strategy team as required in developing business models supporting industry sector, Segment and other strategic initiatives as well as presentations to Commercial Banking OC as needed.

This role will also provide control and governance to the segment reporting framework to ensure the accuracy and consistency of reporting; as well as develop/enhance and maintain product and segment level cost allocation methodologies to ensure segment profitably is reasonably assessed for management discussion and strategic planning and detail spread analysis of segments products.

What you will do?

  • Ensures timely analysis/reporting (revenue, spread analysis, expenses, and balance sheet) and communicates effectively with Business segment partners.
  • Develop shadow financial reporting for Clients Segments not aligned with transit hierarchy
  • Support monthly/quarterly and QBR for Commercial Banking reporting related to segments; ensure segment P&L reconciles to total Commercial Banking
  • Develop Plan and 5 Year outlook for segment balance sheet and revenue at the product level; translate the segment balance sheet to industry sector; incorporate initiatives; ensure Plan and 5 year outlook balance sheet and revenue aligned with total Commercial Banking at the product level
  • Vertical industry sector analysis for total Commercial Banking and by client segment for management discussion and business reviews
  • Reporting and tracking of HBCA financials separately, including any synergies linked to the segments
  • Facilitate or develop financial modeling for strategic initiatives; Provides valuable inputs and review the models and assumptions for validity as required
  • Monitor/reconcile filter transfers of deposits balances and cash management revenue related to Capital Markets clients. Update filter transits/GLs as appropriate working closely with the business, FMS, Product Control and Capital Markets Finance

What you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • 5+ years of relevant finance and industry experience with preferably strong knowledge of RBC planning, reporting and forecasting processes
  • CPA/CFA//MBA Strong understanding of the drivers of performance and outcome measures of Business products, RBC, and the financial industry
  • Cross enterprise mindset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to influence.
  • Focused on continuous improvement
  • Creative, innovative, proactive and strategic business sense
  • Strong understanding of the drivers of performance and outcome measures of Business products, and the financial industry
  • Cross enterprise mindset
  • Superior financial modeling skills (ie. strong Excel modeling skills)
  • Strong technical skills preferred (ie. Tableau database management)
