WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Senior Technical Systems Analyst with Business & Client Services and Cross Business functions in the Run-the-Bank (RTB) group is responsible for providing second line application support within RBC Capital Markets. The incumbent will be performing as a technology subject matter athlete to conduct technical analysis, troubleshooting of incidents and service disruptions, completing user requests for information and administration, Audit and IT Risk related action items, documentation, powerpoint presentations and reporting, etc. across the supported applications.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Demonstrates full awareness and adoption of Run-the-Bank (RTB) best practices ensuring collaboration as well as partnership with Enterprise, Business and RBCCM IT teams.
  • Establish direction for the prioritization and development of solutions for repeat/chronic and impactful issues through partnership with development, Infrastructure, support and business teams.
  • Ensure the design, development, implementation, operation and continual service improvement of problem management process is executed effectively.
  • Drive the value in unit, department, and enterprise wide teams to develop better solutions, leverage best practices, and achieve a cross enterprise mindset while maintaining focus on business priorities.
  • Manages relationships with partners from both Technical and Business areas of RBC by facilitating meetings and addressing concerns / process gaps.
  • Drives and documents Post Incident Reviews as well as the candidate should be able to act as Incident Manager if any bridge calls are required to resolve the high severity issues.
  • In collaboration with various Service and Application Support Management leads, drive efficient reporting of issues with focus on connecting the dots between various events and communicate impact to Business effectively.
  • Candidate will be accountable for various reporting deliverables with daily, weekly, and monthly cadence where executive summaries is an important aspect.
  • Candidate will be accountable for creating powerpoint presentations, reporting metrics, data visualitizatio charts in simple business terms.
  • Participates in documentation and rationalization of multiple internal application-centric Operations Level Agreement (OLA) and Service level Agreement (SLA) along with facilitating of recording and maintaining minimal set of standard agreements, based on material support level.
  • Participates in infrastructure scheduling, coordination, and maintenance activities as well as helps with tasks to ensure applications are fully TSS compliant and all IIS, SAST, Cyber Security related vulnerabilities are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Configure system-level monitoring and alerting for proactive detection, effective trouble-shooting of issues. Experience with Geneos ITRS or equivalent tool is an asset.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have

  • Programming languages fundamentals (emphasis on Python, JAVA, and OO programming technologies).
  • Sound knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Dremio, Kibana, Mongo DB
  • Sound knowledge of various OS platforms with emphasis on Windows and Linux servers (should be comfortable with UNIX commands).
  • Sound knowledge of relational databases (emphasis on Sybase, Oracle, DB2 and MSSQL Server).
  • Experience with Middleware technologies and platforms (e.g. ETL, MQ, Solace).
  • Knowledge of scripting (VBScript, Python, Shell)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to interact effectively with business stakeholders.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Incident Management software – including problem and change management using enterprise tools such as SM9, ServiceNow.
  • Experience with Scheduling Software (E.g.: Control-M, Universal Command/Zeke, Stonebranch).
  • Experience with Version Control and Workflow Management Software (e.g. GitHub, MKS, Subversion, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Capital Markets knowledge.
