WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Develop, support, and maintain the RBC Web Content Management System Enterprise platform in Corporate Systems as part of IDEA (Innovation, Digital, Expertise & Architecture) Team. In performing this role, you will seek to build scalable, reliable, well-performing and secure solutions that interface with various technologies across the enterprise. You will work with other tools in our observability stack and write automation code using Ansible Automation Platform while also partnering with our automation development team to implement application self-healing solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow, expanding your knowledge base and getting hands-on experience with, DevOps, release management, QA/QE, automation, performance testing.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Installing software, patching software, and troubleshooting software issues. Ensuring security software is kept up to date.

  • Training staff on newly installed hardware and software systems. Provide supervision for hired services contractors. Provides advice for team integration of new platforms when required regarding cost/schedule/performance impacts.

  • Provide off hours support as needed for reasonable period after engagement. Responding to general IT requests.

  • Lead major portions of large or medium complex IT projects and lead small projects autonomously. Provide highly technical and specialized solutions to complex IT problems. Gather facts through research, interviewing, and surveys to analyzes the client’s business, draws conclusions, and prepares final reports. Perform analyses and studies and prepares summary reports.

  • Develop and reviews system architecture, including relevant use cases. Manage and tune technology to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved. Develop advanced technological and operational ideas and guides their development to the final product.

  • Work on application integration with DevOPS pipelines.

  • Interfaces with multiple levels of the organization and aspects of a team to resolve system engineering issues, vulnerabilities, and actions. Working with business team/s, system integrators, compliance, cybersecurity teams and collaborate to resolve issues reported. Working closely with Business Analyst to review and analysis of the requirement.

  • Provides weekly and bi-weekly highlights and status inputs to include status, issues, and proposed solutions.

  • Analyzes existing infrastructure deficiencies and present recommendations for improvement.

  • Resolve end-user support issues using enterprise-wide standard tools and processes.

  • Management and upkeep of test and production environments.

  • Automate QA and Operation processes.

  • Request management and Triage of user requests, incidents, via multiple intake channels.

  • Monthly service reviews, SLA monitoring, PIV, knowledge acquisition to support new and enhanced functionality.

  • Actively contributing to effective knowledge management and sharing of information within the team and department.

  • Ensuring effective logging and resolution/follow up of enquiries and liaising with appropriate parties to resolve/escalate queries/problems within agreed timescales.

  • Assist in maintaining and updating team websites, distribution lists and support documentation.

  • Work with production support team to troubleshoot active production issues.

  • Document environments, network diagrams, user guides, and support procedures.

  • Access administration including regular attestations.

  • Communicate outages to stakeholders and technology partners and report critical issues to management in a timely manner.

  • Perform Post Implementation Verification and Disaster Recovery testing activities. Liaising proactively with product management and stakeholders / initiators of change initiatives.

  • Communicating to all stakeholders about changes that will be released into production.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or similar university program

  • Production application support/maintenance experience (development or operations) with an understanding of application logging practices.

  • Time management: make continuous progress on longer-term initiatives while completing short-term tasks in a timely manner.

  • Strong understanding Networking, Web protocol, System Management experience and authentication mechanisms such as Kerberos, Azure, TLS/SSL

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and process improvement methodologies and DevOps concepts, version control, and continuous integration concepts

  • Strong understanding of Webserver technologies – Apache and Apache TomCat

  • 3+ years practical technical experience

  • Strong understanding in Linux, MS Server, Active Directory and Technologies including Implementation, Configuration, Maintenance and Admin

  • Self-driven, ability to quickly learn new technologies and demonstrated track record of rapid iteration and demonstrate success in managing deliverables within aggressive timeframes.

  • Experience working in Linux and Windows environments.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience working in regulated environment that requires strong change, incident, and security controls.

  • Ability to create Linux Shell/Python/Java/SQL scripts/code and procedures for automation purposes.

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace.

  • Knowledge of source code management/deployment tools such as MS TFS, Urban Code Deploy, Jenkins, Github

  • Knowledge and understanding of Cloud technologies such as AWS, OCP

  • Knowledge and understanding of Docker and Kubernetes

  • Familiarity with Apache SOLR
