RBC’s Office of the US CIO is responsible for the oversight of all technology supporting the firm’s Combined US Operations (CUSO). The CUSO includes Capital Markets, Wealth Management, City National Bank, RBC Bank (US), Global Asset Management, and Functions within the US.
The US IT Operations Director role is accountable to the US CIO for the oversight of the organizations IT infrastructure and operations. This hands-on role is responsible for overseeing operational, change, and incident management ensuring a sustainable and scalable IT environment. Additionally, this role is accountable for ensuring consistency of execution assurance across technology programs supporting the CUSO, in terms of governance, risk management, and value realization.
What will you do?
- Capacity Management: Responsible for ensuring organization’s IT infrastructure and services can support current and future demands through continuous monitoring of IT performance, forecasting of future needs, and maintaining appropriately sized, efficient, and scalable IT resources.
- Availability Management: Ensure IT infrastructure and services deliver agreed-upon levels of availability and performance to meet the needs of customers and users, minimizing downtime and service interruptions.
- Service Continuity Management: Ensure that availability and performance of a service are maintained at sufficient levels in case of disaster or unplanned outages ensuring organizational resiliency.
- Problem Management: Oversee identification of causes for new or potential incidents and establish permanent solutions or workarounds to resolve or reduce new or potential incidents, including collaboration with IT functions to minimize impact of problems and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
- Incident Management: Oversee effective management of IT incidents, ensuring minimal service disruptions, through identification, response, and resolution of IT incidents.
- Change Management: Responsible for overseeing and leading change management operations and initiatives and ensuring alignment to overall IT and business strategy and risk management standards.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 10+ years’ experience in financial services industry in US IT operations management with strong understanding of IT systems and operational processes utilizing industry best practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations.
- Knowledge of supervisory expectations expressed in U.S Regulatory Obligations, Federal Reserve Supervisor Letters, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Bulletin.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, IT service delivery, and risk and change management processes.
- Experience in coordination of transformational efforts, in a large, complex ecosystem across disparate stakeholders.
- Familiarity with sustainable IT practices and a commitment to driving eco-friendly initiatives.
- Ability to both grasp big picture and have rigorous attention to detail.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills, proven organizational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to establish strategic approach for long term sustainable solution.
- Ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders and demonstrate strong collaboration skills across the organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $160,000 - $250,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
