What is the opportunity?

The Finance team at RBC Malaysia provides Finance and Accounting support to RBC Malaysia locally, in addition to all of RBC’s businesses in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. The Finance operations in Malaysia is the Center of Expertise for APAC Finance, providing Accounts Payable, Financial Control, Product Control and Performance Management services. The objectives for Malaysia Finance is to provide First Class accounting services to our stakeholders in Asia Pacific, and to enable onshore Finance teams to fulfil their roles as valued Finance business partners.

As a Manager within the Finance Department, you will be responsible to contribute to the maintenance of effective and accurate financial management and statutory accounting, regulatory / Head Office reporting and other financial records in line with business objectives and requirements for Hong Kong entities:

  • RBC Investment Services (Asia) Limited

  • RBC Global Assets Management (Asia) Limited

Build value-added partnerships with Businesses and functions to manage delivery of enhanced management information, analytics and provide inputs to new business initiatives that assist business leaders attain their financial and strategic objectives

What will you do?

  • Provide impact analysis on regulatory ratio/reporting and accounting in different scenarios required in various projects.

  • Change management to regulatory/financial reporting processes to support new business initiatives. Provide inputs to functional specification and participate in user acceptance testing if required.

  • Deliver and implement Finance projects that deliver process efficiency and enhanced control.

  • Review the work on preparation of regulatory returns and financial deliverable for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Securities & Futures Commission of Hong Kong

  • Daily monitoring of internal regulatory limits.

  • Maintain professional relationship with regulators, responsible for queries and other requests.

  • Interpretation of new regulatory rules and requirements and assess impacts to businesses and reporting.

  • Conduct risk assessment and review implication on regulatory reporting in relation to new business initiatives.

  • Embrace changes for new business initiatives, work with project teams providing input on user requirement and functional specifications, driving enhancement on reporting tools, conduct user acceptance testing and support business rollout

  • Facilitate the development and roll out of Finance automated solution on regulatory reporting.

  • Develop relationship with key stakeholders across Hong Kong

  • Manage creation and delivery of enhanced management information and analytics for the Businesses and management that assists business leaders attain their financial and strategic objectives.

  • Provide value-added inputs (including capital impacts) to new Business Initiatives and Project Approval Request from Finance Perspective.

  • Assist the team lead to train, supervise and provide support to the team for regulatory & accounting functions.

  • Ensure employees understand RBC vision, as well as support and reinforce targeted behaviours that contribute to RBC goals.

  • Provide focus and clarify in establishing individual goals, driving performance management, supporting career development and rewarding strong performance.

  • Leverage the value in unit, department, and enterprise wide teams to develop better solutions and achieve a cross enterprise mindset.

  • Accept and successfully execute change while supporting employees through the process, and keeping them focused on business prioirities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Degree qualified in Commerce/Business discipline

  • 8-10 years financial institution and/or Big 4 experience.

  • 2 year’s experience in HKMA Returns for Capital Markets Businesses.

  • Experience in a Capital Markets or Bank Finance Department

  • Experience with HKMA and SFC Returns reporting.

  • Good command of English and communication skills

  • Highly developed PC skills and excel macro / access knowledge
