Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

As Director of Development for the Compliance Technology department you will be integral in promoting a strong culture focused on process governance, collaboration, innovation, and stakeholder success

What will you do?

  • Manage a team of developers, leads and quality engineers

  • Work with business stakeholders across compliance, surveillance, employee disclosures and monitoring to align their strategic and regulatory goals through the successful implementation of technology solutions -

  • Work with the platform head, architects, and development leads to expand and maintain our strategic roadmap and business capabilities documentation

  • Establish and maintain a cadence of sessions focused on transformation of and adherence to our SDLC and change management processes

  • Identify new opportunities to uplift our team and to better promote our current initiatives

  • Work with head of Compliance technology on multi hub staffing strategy for development

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 10+ years leading software development teams across a portfolio of initiatives

  • Strong background in key domains of Risk and Compliance with a focus on process design and software development lifecycle

  • Strong communication and soft skills are necessary to work collaboratively across multiple teams

  • Tech stack strength in:

    • Windows and Linux

    • Java, Python

    • OCP and Kubernetes

    • NodeJS, Apache, JBoss

    • SQL Server and Oracle

  • Experience with infrastructure teams

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in full stack development

  • End to end software development and delivery planning

  • Network and Infrastructure experience

  • Data Insights and Analytics technology experience

  • Experience with API/Webservices
