What is the opportunity?

As a Pension Analyst - Group Annuity, you will provide support to RBC Insurance’s Group Annuity Line of Business in maintaining certain functions within the Group Annuity team. You will be responsible for processing data and reporting within the Pension Administration record keeping system(s) with re-occurring monthly activities, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. This position provides support and assistance to the various members of the team. What will you do?

•Accurately update and maintain plan sponsor’s data in the pension system(s) (monthly and/or ad hoc basis)

•Investigate instances of data integrity problems and initiate corrective actions. Recommend solutions for resolving problems

•Assist with: i) the implementation of new clients and the issuance of annuity certificates to deferred and retired members, ii) user acceptance testing as required for new releases/clients, problems logs which could have an impact on the Pension Administration database(s), iii) the validation (quality control) of Annual Statements as required by the applicable legislation and any other priority initiatives that may arise

•Perform ad-hoc reporting for internal/external use as needed

•Prepare monthly payroll reconciliations per client

•Contact pensioners and deferred members as a result of a Contact Centre requests / enquiries and ensure that appropriate actions are taken to service the client in a timely manner

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

•2 to 4 years of benefits and retirement experience and expertise in process, policies, and procedures as it pertains to Defined Benefit Pensions or Group Annuities and Payroll Accounting

•Ability to multitask competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while being detail-oriented in execution of routine / complex processes and works well under pressure

•Proactive focus on continuous improvement and looking for creative solutions or process improvements daily

•Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills

•Strong communication skills – written and oral with a proven track record of providing excellent customer service

•Strong mathematical skills and/or accounting practices in addition to having strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Nice-to-have

•Pension Plan Administration Certificate or RPA (PPAC or CEBS)

•Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, professional HR, and/or benefits or College Diploma or Degree in Payroll or Accounting , or Canadian Payroll designation (PCP), post-secondary diploma in Business or Finance Administration

•Knowledge of pension plans/Group Annuities including regulatory requirements

•Bilingualism is an asset
