What is the Opportunity?

The Head of RBC Clear Payments & Receivables will be responsible for creating the core capability for supporting the payments and collections flows for our clients. This role will take the lead in creating and delivering the core payments and Receivables capability and co-lead the Build management and product governance aspects with the Head of Platforms and Value-added services. This is a senior role in the RBC Clear Line of Business and will report to the head of business and be part of the senior leadership team there. This role will need to work with the RBC Clear Solutions team and the T&O Organization. This position will include driving product capability and delivery in responding to client feedback and pain points related to Payments and Receivables.

What will you do?

  • Represent needs of RBC Clear customers, lead the product capabilities required to meet and exceed client needs and continued digital disruption.
  • Work closely with Sales teams to gather client feedback and continue to create and commercialize relevant product and capability bundles
  • Keep abreast of market development in terms of peer-capabilities, regulatory and internal policy changes to ensure the product is adapted to those.
  • Create solutions and drive transformation in emerging payment and technology trends, understanding emerging competition and opportunities for partnership.
  • Recognize attractive client opportunities related to products and solution bundles and work with the Platform organization to deliver differentiated -capabilities
  • Work closely with the COO Org and Functional partners to ensure product compliance and legal requirements and fulfilment are fully understood and built.
  • Collaborate with Client research and feedback to ensure client pain points, and opinions are received and acted upon.

People Leadership & Collaboration

  • Select, build, and lead a high performing Payments & Receivables product, leveraging individual capabilities and strengths.
  • Select, build and lead a high performing Payments and Products bench-strength to ensure band-width, SME and career-path for personnel in the team.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring and professional development that further embeds the right culture, values, and leadership behaviors.
  • Works with team members to establish goals, drive performance management, support career development and reward strong performance.
  • Maintains effective relationships and routines with business leaders and program/initiative teams.
  • Work with Sales to build an active Payments and Receivables pipeline, an effective benchmarking to competition and ensure marketing collateral reflects the differentiating factors for the products.
  • Provide SME input and own the content for RFP / RFQ / ISQ processes and work with the appropriate teams in the Sales org to ensure Pitch materials contain the latest and greatest representation of facts and capability and experience differentiation.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Candidate requires deep knowledge and a proven record of success in running Payments & Receivables within transaction banking, commercial payments and payment hub solutions.
  • Demonstrates intimate abilities and/or a proven record of success in working collaboratively and independently to address client needs.
  • Demonstrates intimate abilities and/or a proven record of success leading large teams through product commercialization and maturity at scale.
  • In depth knowledge of the following is preferred:
    • Payments Rails – existing and emerging – ACH / FedWires / RTP / CLS / CHIPS
    • Receivables products – Electronic and Paper-based
    • Money movement capabilities for High Value, Low Value and Instant Payments
    • Global clearing and market infrastructures
    • Transaction life cycles of payment products and solutions (e.g., wires, ACH, check, money transfer, and card solutions)
    • Ability to work with the Corporate Banking Team. Industries of focus include Tech, Retailer, CRE, Diversified Industries etc.
  • Data and payment systems interactions including IT tools and technology.
  • Documentation and the identification of key controls within payment transaction lifecycles.
  • Ability to lead delivery of significant business results that utilizes strategic and creative thinking, problem solving, individual initiative.
  • Experience leading and delivering projects including bringing together the right perspectives, identifying roadblocks, and integrating feedback from clients and team members.
  • Experience managing delivery from project scoping to conclusion, while consistently keeping the client’s goals in mind.
  • Ability to oversee product launch and marketing activities.
  • Ability to set aspirational goals and articulate in the context of a business strategy.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into data and research requirements.
  • 20 plus years of experience.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $350,000-$400,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
