What is the opportunity?
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Transactional Risk & Compliance in Trade Operations, members of the Trade Advisory Group are RBC’s only team responsible to provide support, guidance and advice to all Trade Specialists, Account Managers, and global client base on our Trade Finance Solutions. By leveraging the required understanding of all ICC rules including but not limited to UCP600, ISP98, URDG785 and the application of these rules in a live transaction, execute the structuring, coordination, and completion on all product offerings, such as Letters of Credit, Standbys, Guarantees, Documentary Collections and all other trade related queries and transactions. All responsibilities carried out in accordance with Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Guiding Principles ensuring adherence to Privacy Principles.
What will you do?
- Structuring and drafting of letters of credit, guarantees and standby based on client’s need and requirement considering ICC applicable rules and RBC Policy and Procedures.
- Helping clients, Senior Trade Specialists and Commercial Account Managers for issuance of bid bond, performance, and other guarantees both domestic and international and engaging RBC Legal whenever required.
- Support Trade Operations and Guarantee team by assisting with releases and completion of issuances and other type of transaction including documents verifications when required.
- Handling Trade Transactions with Export Development Corporation (EDC) support and responsible to develop a good understanding of EDC related trade products and activity, liaise and engage EDC to have their support/approvals where required as per need and requirement to mitigate the risks
- Handling of clients and Trade Managers request for Trade discounting and confirmation of a letter of credit transaction, obtaining Risk approvals via RAMA and EDC support as required.
- Key escalation points with business partners including Senior Trade Specialists ensuring RBC CTM risk / EDC approvals are in place before discounting all documents.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- Required Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) – Designation with 7+ years of Letter of Credit /Trade Service experience and 2+ years of Business Partnering experience
- Comprehensive trade products knowledge and ability to apply product rules set by ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) e.g. UCP 600, URR725, URC522, URDG758
- Bilingual in French and English with Fluent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently and communicate effectively
Nice-to-have:
- Strong organizational & decision-making skills.
- Challenges status quo and responds with innovative solutions
- Working knowledge of Trade360 (JTPS), SharePoint, Service Platform, Sales Platform applications.
Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly do business with partners across Canada
