What is the opportunity?

In this role you will be responsible for managing and executing events for the Advisor Channel Sales team (ACS), RBC Global Asset Management (GAM) and will report into the Associate Director, Program & Events. You will work on in-person, virtual and hybrid events for internal and external clients as well as advisor programs such as our Continuing Education (CE) credit offering, a national Portfolio Manager access process and administrative tasks to support the overall team. You will often be the first point of contact with internal partners and external clients and work directly with members of the ACS Leadership Team. This role is based in our Toronto offices. Combination of in-office (minimum 3 days/week) and at home work.

What will you do?

  • Project management of overall event to deliver engaging in-person, virtual and hybrid events.

  • Responsible for building and maintaining critical path, associated tasks and timelines, including assessing at risk deliverables and driving internal committee meeting agendas.

  • Program development includes sourcing, agenda development, managing floor plans and venue space, managing scope and execution of work with internal and external partners.

  • Financial responsibility on event budgets including building and management of budget with a reasonability report, providing ongoing financial updates, making recommendations throughout the planning process and post event reconciliation.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills required for collaboration with team members, internal departments and external vendors.

  • Lead and complete compliance review, approval and reconciliation for Dealer Conferences/Events, coops and sponsored events.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in meeting planning/event management disciplines including project management preferably in the financial industry.

  • Technologically savvy, specifically with Webex (Meetings, Webinars, Teams), Aventri and Salesforce. Experience working with audio-visual providers on in-person, hybrid and virtual events.

  • Hours may vary depending on events schedule. When working on events, sometimes this requires extended hours of working on your feet to support the execution of the event(s).

  • Low to high levels of travel – this is cyclical.

Nice to Have

  • Bilingual (French/English)

  • Knowledge of the Canadian investment business and sales processes/practices, including knowledge and understanding of National Instrument 81-105 – Mutual Fund Sales Practice Guidelines

  • Event planning designations (CMP, CMM, DES)
