What is the opportunity?

Supports the controller and senior management in the development, analysis, production, maintenance, and integrity of accounting processes and management reports for RCAP Leasing and RBC Equipment Finance; Assists with the day-to-day management of the Equipment Finance Solutions Center (EFSC) Accounts Payable and Finance teams; Acts as primary contact for EFSC management and team members for day to day issues/risks and technical support related to business performance data and measures including new initiatives where required.

What will you do?

Management Report Preparation

  • Accountable for the timely development, production, and maintenance of required financial management reports including new, revisions to current reporting, and ad hoc requests;
  • Interact with business partners to ensure accurate understanding of report requirements and provide timely response to requests;
  • Ensure quality and integrity of reporting and ensure continuous improvement initiatives are embedded within production and development;
  • Prepare/review management reports and schedules, and commentary to ensure integrity, accuracy and completeness in accordance with corporate accounting policies/procedures and timelines;
  • Accountable for actual, forecast, and plan reporting activities;
  • Investigate variances between actual, forecast, and plan and conduct root cause analysis, and recommend alternative strategies solutions to management;
  • Responsible for ensuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and quality standards are adhered to and continuous improvement initiatives are embedded within Production & Development;
  • Monthly preparation of commission calculations with respect to RCAP originations activity and payroll file; To be completed accurately and on a timely basis;
  • Completes ad-hoc analysis and reporting where required;
  • Accounts Payable and Support to Business Unit(s)
  • Assist business units in proper processing of transactions to ensure they are recorded correctly in the system of record;
  • Implement changes to accounting procedures and reporting to reflect changes in the business ;
  • Complete pre-verification of transactions (i.e. payments) for both RCAP Leasing and RBC Equipment Finance;
  • Take ownership of variances identified by Finance Shared Services, determine root cause, develop solution, and work with internal business partners until resolved;
  • Preparation and review of yearly Capital Cost Allowance continuity schedules;

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Masters of Business Administration and/or Accounting/Finance Designation or in progress
  • At least 2 years experience in accounting or finance
  • Previous management, supervisory, or mentoring experience;
  • Ability to motivate highly effective teams through change;
  • Ability to influence/impact without direct authority;
  • Innovative, proactive, and strong analytical capabilities;
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting processes and technology
  • Undergraduate / Graduate degree in Business
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong leadership skill and able to engage the team in a changing environment
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an environment with tight deadlines
  • Organized and able to stay focused in a fast paced environment
  • Highly proficient with MS Office applications
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and Access skills
  • Proven ability to lead peers, partners and management to implement new/enhanced processes, products and/or solve service/quality issues;
  • Proactively Identify opportunities to solve problems by generating, evaluating and recommending alternatives
  • Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to manage conflict;
  • Strong willingness and desire to learn;

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in a People Manager role
  • General Canadian income tax, capital cost allowance, and commodity tax knowledge preferred
  • Experience writing and debugging Visual Basic code for Excel
  • Strong knowledge of Cognos TM1
  • Experience with the processing of transactions in Service Platform and RBC FX and Funds Transfer Systems
  • Experience with the use of PeopleSoft for processing and reporting of accounting transactions
