Wealth Advisor Associate

How does the role impact the organization?

The primary role of the Wealth Advisor Associate is to support a Senior Wealth Manager and his team by ensuring the business is managed efficiently and effectively. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing client service workflows, maintaining compliant client documentation, and coordinating planning and review activities. The Advisor should be able to rely on the Associate to function responsibly and independently. The Associate must be client-service driven, self-motivated, and love to interact with clients. This is a supportive team environment which promotes personal career growth.

What will your role be responsible for?

Client Service & Relationship Support:

  • Foster and support client relationships by liaising with clients, responding to requests and demonstrating proactive problem solving in a timely and confidential manner;
  • Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls with clients and respond to requests for information as well as escalations in client concerns by communicating internally with various operational and administration departments;
  • Manage and maintain the Advisor’s client segmentation and service model;
  • Ensure timely completion of action items from meeting summaries.

Financial Planning & Coordination:

  • Prepare for client review meetings and complete financial projections, as well as preparing or assisting in the preparation and presentation of financial projections/plans;
  • Liaise with portfolio management, operations, compliance, and planning teams as necessary;
  • Act as team lead during tax reporting season, liaising with tax professionals & clients to provide details, slips and updates as required;

Client Engagement & Communications:

  • Assist with all marketing initiatives including social media (twitter, LinkedIn), and website content;
  • Assist with planning client events and appreciation initiatives;

Compliance & Regulatory Documentation:

  • Assist team with administrative processes and procedures, including updating & opening personal and entity accounts;
  • Ensure meeting notes and suitability documentation are properly retained; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

What do we expect from you?

Drawing on previous experience as an Associate in a financial services firm, you must have meticulous attention to detail, possess a positive attitude, and have exceptional professional communication, presentation & interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must also be responsible, confident, self-motivated, and a team player.

To qualify for this opportunity you possess:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • You have knowledge of fundamental investment and financial planning concepts, as well as practices and procedures used in the retail wealth management industry, as well as personal and/or corporate tax filing processes, requirements and concepts. Working towards the successful completion of the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation or equivalent is an asset;
  • You possess excellent time management and organizational skills sufficient to meet multiple deadlines in a client-focused environment;
  • You pride yourself on the ability to work with your team to achieve success while maintaining a high level of client service, and incredible attention to detail;
  • You have an excellent understanding of Microsoft Office programs. Experience with Dataphile, Conquest and/or Razor, as well as CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software experience an asset;
  • You have an understanding of online marketing tools & strategy, including Google analytics, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, and proven experience in social media strategy; and
  • You consistently display flexibility and willingness to assist others as required.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • University degree and/or related working experience in business, finance, economics, commission sales
  • A minimum of 4 years full-service brokerage and/or financial industry related experience
  • Must be registered (or eligible to be re-registered) with CIRO in Province of Residence as of date of hire as a Registered Representative. Fulfillment of CIRO continuing education requirements on an ongoing basis

Eligibility to Become a Registered Representative (RR)

If you are not currently CIRO‑licensed, you must meet one of the following prerequisites to be eligible for RR licensing:

  • A university diploma in a relevant field; and/or
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant industry experience.

Salary Range: $45,000-55,000 annually, in addition to competitive performance bonuses/incentives.
