Overview

Job Title: Network Engineering Senior Advisor

Location: India Remote

Quest Software is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineering Advisor to design, implement, and maintain our global network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network protocols, security measures, and troubleshooting techniques. This role requires a proactive approach to network management and a commitment to delivering high-performance, secure, and reliable network solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

You will work on advanced technologies, including network segmentation, Zero Trust architecture, SD-WAN, and hybrid cloud connectivity, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and future-ready network solutions. This position involves strategic planning, hands-on implementation, and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Networking:
    • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) tailored to Quest Software’s global needs.
    • Configure and install network devices such as Cisco switches and routers, firewalls, load balancers, and console servers.
    • Implement and manage BGP for optimal routing and path selection, ensuring efficient data transfer and network stability.
    • Configure routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, QoS, and redundancy strategies for high availability.
  • Cloud Networking (Azure & AWS):
    • Architect and manage Azure VNets, NSGs, Firewall, ExpressRoute, and AWS VPCs, Route Tables, Security Groups, Direct Connect.
    • Implement hybrid connectivity between on-prem and cloud environments using VPN gateways and private circuits.
    • Optimize routing and security policies for multi-cloud deployments.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Apply Zero Trust principles and enforce network access control using Cisco ISE and Azure AD.
    • Implement firewall rules, segmentation, and encryption across all environments.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO, GDPR) and Quest security policies.
  • Performance & Monitoring:
    • Monitor network health using SolarWinds, FortiAnalyzer, and other advanced tools.
    • Troubleshoot latency or connectivity issues across global data centers and remote sites.
    • Optimize network performance for cloud-hosted applications and SaaS platforms.
  • Automation & Documentation:
    • Use Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) for network automation and provisioning.
    • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all network configurations and changes.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Mentor and support junior network engineers and technicians, providing guidance and training on best practices.
    • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions with other systems and applications.
    • Stay up to date with the latest network technologies and industry trends to ensure Quest Software remains at the forefront of network innovation.

Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

-8+ years of experience in network engineering, including enterprise networking and cloud networking.

-Hands-on experience with:

  • Cisco networking, Fortinet firewalls, load balancers, and console management solutions.
  • Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Firewall, ExpressRoute).
  • AWS networking (VPC, Route Tables, Security Groups, Direct Connect).

-Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, BGP, OSPF, and routing protocols.

-Experience with network security best practices and Zero Trust architecture.

-Familiarity with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting (Python, Perl) for network provisioning.

-Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (SolarWinds, FortiAnalyzer, Wireshark).

Preferred Qualifications

-Certifications: Azure Network Engineer Associate, AWS Advanced Networking, CCNP, CCDP, or equivalent.

-Knowledge of MPLS, QoS, NAT, IPv4, IPv6, and other advanced networking concepts.

-Experience with SD-WAN, load balancing technologies, and IPAM solutions.

Familiarity with Meraki Wi-Fi solutions and their configuration and management.

Soft Skills

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong organizational and mentoring abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
