Registered Counselling Therapist or Social Worker MSW - Lifemark Health Group

  • Location: 100% virtual, hybrid and On-site arrangements possible @ Lifemark Physiotherapy Elmsdale (32 Park Rd, Elmsdale, NS, B2S 2L2)
  • Full Time Permanent, salaried/hourly

Lifemark Physiotherapy Elmsdale provides physiotherapy, massage therapy and occupational therapy. We have five physiotherapy treatment beds, plus two private room, three Full Time Occupational Therapists, two Full Time Registered Counselling Therapists, two Full Time Massage Therapists and a massage therapy room, and a gym complete with cardio equipment, weights, and functional training equipment maintained by a Kinesiologist.

We treat both acute injuries, as well as complex chronic pain injuries, musculoskeletal and soft tissues injuries, sport injuries, workplace injuries, motor vehicle accident injuries, as well as mental health, psychosocial, cognitive and post concussion.

We provide services for PCVRS, MVA, WCB, LTD and private patients. In addition to traditional physiotherapy, Occupational therapy and massage therapy, the clinic provides a number of assessment services including:

  • Mental health

  • Cognitive demands analysis
  • Cognitive abilities evaluation
  • Cognitive treatment
  • Cancer C.A.R.E
  • Concussion management
  • Custom orthotics by a registered pedorthist
  • Work conditioning/hardening and functional restoration programs

Responsibilities:

  • Provide counselling services to clients referred privately, by employers, by various insurance companies, and other third-party organizations to address psychosocial problems related to injury, trauma, and mental illness.
  • Adopt a goal-focused, therapeutic approach for alleviating distress and improving social and occupational functioning.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to discuss clients’ treatment plan and goals, the progress made to date, and any barriers to treatment.
  • Delivery quality reporting and effective communication with all stakeholders.

Licensing:

  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists as a Registered Counselling Therapist,

or

  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers as an MSW Clinical Specialist (formerly called Private Practitioner status).
  • Minimum Master’s Degree in a counselling-related field such as Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work.

Experience

  • Experience in case conceptualization and treatment of a range of mental health symptoms with a variety of adult clients.
  • Have clinical knowledge in the areas of grief/loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment issues.
  • Knowledge of psychological management of chronic pain and concussive syndrome an asset.
  • Training and experience with cognitive behavioural therapy approaches (e.g., CBT, ACT, CPT).
  • Experience working as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience preparing assessment, progress and discharge reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, solid judgement, and integrity.
