Modern OT is a community-based occupational therapy practice servicing Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.
The clinical team are passionate about enriching the health of their clients through a holistic approach. As the Occupational Therapist, you will support clients in meaningful daily activities (occupations) like self-care, work, and leisure, by addressing physical, cognitive, or emotional challenges through skill-building, environmental adaptation, and assistive devices to improve their independence and quality of life.
This role can involve working directly with clients in the community, in clinics, or virtually. Caseloads include a range of functional assessments and treatment interventions. You will be a member of a highly collaborative and supportive team of over 40 OTs, as well as rehabilitation case managers and other professionals.
This is a full time permanent role based in Ottawa.
Your impact
Our OTs provide both individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents and workplace injuries. They also play a pivotal role supporting individuals facing physical, cognitive, and mental wellness goals. In this role, you will:
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based occupational therapy services to clients.
- Apply clinical expertise and professional competence in the assessment, intervention, consultation, case management, discharge planning, education, and follow-up of clients.
- Create tailored, graded return-to-work plans with specific, measurable goals that gradually increase activity and build tolerance.
- Perform clinical evaluations, provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits.
- Identification of appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations.
- Teach techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress.
- Provide education to the client and employer about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan.
- Work with employers to identify suitable modified duties, adapt the work environment, and monitor progress
- Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
- Excel in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.
- Exhibit sound professional judgment.
What we’re looking for
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, home safety, and/or return to work.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for community appointments.
- Bilingualism - French and English are assets but not required.
