As the Director, Merger & Acquisitions, IT Integration, you will be the strategic leader responsible for the entire technology lifecycle of our mergers and acquisitions. Reporting into the VP, Technology and Analytics, you will architect and own the IT integration framework, from initial technical due diligence through post-merger stabilization. This role requires a seasoned leader who can bridge the gap between corporate development strategy and flawless technical execution.
You will serve as the primary technology stakeholder to the Corporate Development and Post-Merger Integration teams as well of potential acquisition targets. Your leadership will ensure that technology risks are mitigated, synergies are realized, and acquired companies are seamlessly and securely integrated into our ecosystem.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Due Diligence
- Architect and own the IT due diligence strategy and playbook, establishing a repeatable, scalable process for assessing the technology landscape of target companies.
- Lead comprehensive technical due diligence reviews, evaluating infrastructure, cybersecurity posture, application portfolios, talent, and operational maturity.
- Quantify risks, estimate integration costs and timelines, and identify key technology-driven synergies to inform valuation and negotiation strategy.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills by presenting complex technical findings and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and potential sellers, building trust and clarifying the post-acquisition technology roadmap.
Integration Planning & Execution Governance
- Establish the master IT integration playbook, defining standards, methodologies, and tools to govern all technology workstreams.
- Serve as the senior technology liaison between the corporate development team and all internal technology functions, ensuring strategic alignment and accountability.
- Provide executive oversight on the development of detailed integration plans, budgets, and resource models, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and drive strategic value.
- Own the master plan for hardware procurement, network integration, and complex data migrations, ensuring alignment with long-term architectural goals.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Serve as the primary technology leader and strategic counterpart to the target company's leadership during the M&A process, fostering a collaborative and transparent partnership.
- Chair steering committee meetings for M&A integration, reporting on progress, risks, and critical decisions.
- Translate complex technical roadmaps and integration challenges into clear business implications for non-technical stakeholders across all departments.
- Influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders, both internal and external, to secure commitments and ensure alignment on integration priorities.
Cutover, Stabilization & Continuous Improvement
- Provide oversight for all go-live activities (onsite or remote) to ensure seamless business continuity.
- Champion the development of a world-class onboarding experience for new team members in partnership with HR and regional business leaders.
- Oversee the successful transition of acquired entities to standard IT operations and support models, ensuring long-term stability and value realization.
- Lead post-mortem reviews to institutionalize learnings and drive the continuous improvement of the IT M&A integration methodology and playbook.
What we're looking for:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT leadership, with a minimum of 5+ years in a role directly focused on M&A integration or large-scale technology transformation projects.
- Demonstrated track record of leading the technical due diligence process for multiple transactions.
- Deep expertise in IT infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms (Microsoft 365/Azure), cybersecurity principles, and enterprise applications.
- Proven ability to architect and execute complex, cross-functional IT projects with significant business impact.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with executive presence and the ability to build rapport with C-level leaders and external business owners.
- Strong business and financial acumen, with experience developing and managing integration budgets.
- PMP, PgMP, or related program management certification is a strong asset.
- Written and verbal French language skills are an asset.
