The Senior Manager, Construction & Design will oversee and lead the design and construction of all Capital Growth Projects from valuation to completion in coordination with Loblaw Real Estate division.
Working closely with Real Estate, Operations and Finance, and reporting into the Senior Director, Real Estate, Facilities and Capital Planning, you will be responsible for preparing design specifications and standards along with the execution of capital scope, spend and timing as it relates to construction and design initiatives.
In this role, you will
- Coordinate and manage the design planning, approval process and execution for Capital Growth projects
- Oversee Designers, General Contractors, consultants, vendors and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Real Estate, Operations, Procurement, Marketing, and Finance to ensure effective completion and communication for all projects.
- Prepare design prototypes, including standards, specs and materials.
- Manage and coordinate project permitting, tender process and contracts with consultants.
- Prepare project scope, estimates, deliveries and timelines.
- Oversee project invoicing with the support of Project Coordinator and Finance team.
- Provide Senior Leadership with regular updates regarding Project timing and budget.
- Conduct Site visits throughout the project schedule; including possession, turnover, close out and deficiencies reviews.
- Provide Real Estate support regarding lease schedules and construction requirements
- Evaluate, plan and recommend capital infrastructure and initiatives in alignment with Lifemark strategic plans.
- Support the Facilities and Maintenance team with large scale restorations and repairs.
What we’re looking for
- Post Secondary Education in Construction, Architectural Engineering or related field.
- At least 5 years experience in Health Care / Retail Construction & Design Management.
- High organization skills with the ability to manage several projects in various stages.
- Strong knowledge of local and national Building Codes.
- Extensive understanding of FF&E procurement and practices.
- Experience implementing process and procedural improvements
- History of collaborating and managing high performing teams
- Strong customer service background
- Must be able to work in a dynamic fast past environment.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint Outlook, and Project
- PMP considered an asset.
