Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Senior Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials in our Mississauga or Toronto office.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Senior Project Technologist will assist in developing various types of hygiene, health and safety documentation, prepare technical reports and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met.
You will be in the company of both long-term staff and those who are new to the team, all of whom can provide guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise. We’re looking for a bright and eager individual, someone who is ready to contribute to our growth.
A Day in the life of a Sr. Project Technologist at Pinchin:
- Complete assessments for hazardous materials, designated substances and workplace exposures
- Conduct interviews with clients regarding building history and site-specific client concerns
- Perform inspections and evaluate building systems and materials
- Use various types of equipment to record measurements and collect various samples
- Identify and sample suspect asbestos, lead, and PCB-containing materials
- Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous materials concerns
- Inspect abatement and restoration contractors undertaking asbestos and other hazardous materials abatement work to document that the work has been properly completed
- Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples
- Business development to existing clients
- Maintain and enhance quality control within the group
- Liaise between clients and contractors; maintaining existing client relationships and building new ones
- Schedule field reviews with clients and contractors
- Ensure the well-being and safety of workers and building occupants where Pinchin projects are present
- Support in training junior staff
What you bring to the Pinchin team:
- A diploma or degree in Construction Technology or Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science or Applied Science
- Three to five years of practical experience in the field of Hazardous Materials (Asbestos, Mould, Lead, PCBs, etc.)
- C.E.T. or related designations will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines
- Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.)
- Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawings
- Experience working with environmental monitoring equipment
- Strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed instructions
- Excellent technical report writing skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products
- Availability to work outside our core business hours and rotational weekends
- Vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance as travel around the designated region is required
- Employees may be required by our clients to undergo security clearances and/or drug and alcohol testing to gain access to certain job sites
