Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Senior Technical Manager to join our growing Building Enclosure Engineering team in the Greater Toronto Area. As a senior leader, you will play a crucial role in expanding our engineering capabilities, driving project delivery excellence, and nurturing client relationships across Ontario and Canada.

About the Role:

This role goes beyond traditional management—it's an opportunity to collaborate with our senior leadership team to shape the future of our building enclosure engineering practice. You will work with a team of engineers and other building science professionals to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality services that include engineering design and innovative solutions for building enclosure performance. The Senior Technical Manager will report to the Director of Building Science and Sustainability in the Greater Toronto Area.

A Day in the life of the Senior Technical Manager:

  • Lead and manage the Building Enclosure Engineering team, overseeing project delivery, design reviews, and quality assurance.
  • Implement strategies to expand our building enclosure business and its capabilities, with potential for assuming a broader leadership role.
  • Drive client development by maintaining and growing client relationships, and actively participating in business development activities.
  • Take responsibility for financial management of the team, including budget planning, forecasting, and ensuring profitability of projects.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on business development initiatives to identify new markets, cultivate client opportunities, and expand service offerings.
  • Lead the design and management of building enclosure systems, including thermal and moisture protection, air barriers, cladding systems, windows and glazing, facade performance projects, and concrete rehabilitation.
  • Manage and participate in building enclosure assessments, specialist reports, and retrofitting studies for existing buildings.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Prepare cost estimates, business cases, and detailed project reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide thought leadership through webinars and client presentations.

What You Bring to the Pinchin Team:

  • A university degree in Engineering and a P.Eng. designation in a related field. Additional certifications in building science or enclosure engineering are an advantage.
  • 10+ years of consulting engineering experience, with a focus on building enclosure design and performance.
  • Proven experience in managing projects and teams, including mentoring and development of junior staff.
  • Strong understanding of financial management within a consulting environment, with the ability to develop and manage budgets and ensure project profitability.
  • Experience in client relationship management and business development within the consulting engineering industry.
  • Strong technical skills in designing and assessing building enclosure systems, including knowledge of thermal performance, moisture management, and air infiltration control.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other relevant software tools for building enclosure analysis.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various client sites locally and to adjacent provinces.
