Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials and Indoor Environmental Quality Team in our Ottawa office.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Technologist will conduct hazardous building materials assessments, mould and IEQ investigations, and provide construction inspection and testing on asbestos and mould remediation projects.
The Hazardous Materials and Indoor Environmental Quality (HAZ/IEQ) department at Pinchin provides clients with hazardous material and designated substances surveys and associated consulting services (HAZ). These services support property transactions, planned maintenance, repair, renovation and demolition activities, and is conducted to protect workers and building occupants. We also provide specialized indoor environmental quality (IEQ) services, such as indoor air quality investigations, Legionella consulting, radon consulting, and microbial contamination consulting.
A Day in the life of a Project Technologist at Pinchin:
- Perform hazardous materials assessments on all types of buildings and structures
- Schedule inspections with clients and contractors
- Conduct on-site inspections during demolition or removal of hazardous materials
- Perform hazardous materials, mould, indoor air quality, water loss, microbial, Legionella, and infection control assessments and investigations
- Collect and interpret analytical results for various environmental samples
- Collect air samples and PCM analysis (we’ll teach you how to use, and get qualified, on a microscope)
- Prepare reports and drawings detailing the findings and recommendations of on-site inspection
- Liaise between clients and contractors
- Manage time on projects effectively and efficiently
- Ensure the well-being and safety of workers and building occupants where Pinchin projects are present
What you bring to the Pinchin team:
- A degree, diploma, or certificate in Construction Technology, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, or a Bachelor of Science or Applied Science would be an asset
- A related certificate or license (e.g. C.E.T.) would be an asset.
- 1-3 years of related experience in consulting; exceptions will be made for candidates with applicable skills/experience
- Familiarity with building systems (structure, building envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) would be an asset
- Familiarity reading and interpreting technical specifications, drawings and reports
- Knowledge of and ability to learn environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines
- Experience working with environmental monitoring equipment
- Strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed instructions and established standard operating procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Report writing, reviewing, and editing skills
- You hold or are eligible to hold valid Government of Canada PWGSC Secret Level II, Ontario Public Sector, and RCMP Facility Access 2 security clearances
- Availability to work outside our core business hours and weekends based on client schedules
- Applicants must have a current and valid driver’s license with sufficient insurance, and access to a vehicle (Work-related travel will be compensated)
