Job Description:
Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing comprehensive financial support to the IT department ensuring accurate and timely financial close, reporting and analysis for IT projects and initiatives, in addition to supporting corporate accounting processes, preparing consolidated financial analysis, and collaborating with various departments including IT in order to achieve this.
IT Finance:
- Responsible for the timely and accurate financial close processes related to the IT including preparing monthly reports for results for projects, SG&A, and CAPEX.
- Manage IT-related journal entries, internal labor capitalization, and allocations, ensuring compliance with IFRS standards.
- Lead meetings with the IT leadership team to review period end results, providing insightful variance analysis and recommendations.
- Collaborating closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis team, to assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for the IT department, contributing to strategic decision-making.
Corporate Accounting:
- Manage and reconcile payroll entries and associated accounts, ensuring accurate intercompany departmental payroll allocations.
- Assist corporate accounting with updating lease accounting schedules for new leases, renewals, and subleases, and analyzing variances in lease liability and sublease receivable general ledger accounts monthly.
- Preparing monthly promotion fund entries and distributing detailed reports to the marketing department, as well as reviewing the coding of marketing and promo fund invoices prior to submission to Accounts Payable.
- Track annual convention-related expenses and lead meetings to review spend to date.
- Assist with variance analysis for management’s discussion and analysis relating to areas of responsibilities and other external reporting processes as required.
- Prepare audit support and communicate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits as required for areas of responsibilities
- Support other corporate accounting monthly and quarterly processes, financial reporting and related projects as necessary.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis as required and support projects impacting financial reporting.
Other Responsibilities:
- Review standard operating procedures (SOPs) regularly, updating and adding new SOPs as needed.
- Establish, develop, and maintain constructive, collaborative relationships within the Finance Department and across the organization.
- Drive process improvements in areas of responsibilities to improve close timeline, efficiency and financial reporting.
Qualifications:
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree and CPA designation is required
Experience:
- 3-5+ years’ experience in corporate accounting/external audit
- Experience working for a publicly traded company is an asset
- Experience in the retail industry is an asset
