How will you contribute?

We’re looking for dynamic, self-motivated, and highly organized Security Systems Technical Support Specialists to join our team and support the Corporate Security Directorate!

Reporting to the Chief, Physical and Technical Security, and working closely with the Locksmith, Senior Security Systems Specialist, and the Advisor, Off-Precinct Security Services, the Security Systems Technical Support Specialist plays a key role in delivering professional technical services related to security systems across the Senate Precinct, as well as senator’s provincial and territorial residences. This includes identifying vulnerabilities, preparing reports and technical drawings, and recommending tailored security enhancements—such as integrated security software, CCTV, communication systems, screening and detection equipment, and other technical components—in alignment with established security guidelines and procedures.

As a front-line security technical resource, you will provide direct support to clients virtually and on-site, troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate second- and third-level support, maintain various security systems, and manage the installation, configuration, and implementation of new systems both at residences and on the Precinct.

This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects across Canada simultaneously. Flexibility is essential, as travel and overtime may be required to meet operational needs.

Prerequisites

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, or a combination of education, training, and experience relevant to the role;
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting security systems and related equipment;
  • Experience providing technical advice and recommendations on security systems to various stakeholders;
  • Experience with installation, maintenance, testing, and integration of integrated security systems;
  • Experience conducting residential security vulnerability assessments and inspections, an asset;
  • Experience installing, testing, and integrating security systems and equipment, including residential systems, an asset;
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, identify and solve problems and work simultaneously with conflicting priorities.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of current security system standards, operations, and specifications;
  • Thorough understanding of security system operations and design;
  • Experience with:
    • Point monitoring and alarm control systems;
    • CCTV and intercom systems;
    • Computerized security systems and related software.
  • Knowledge of video surveillance systems, including installation, programming, and maintenance;
  • Ability to read and produce technical drawings and reports.
