Role Overview
As a Workplace Services engineer, you will be responsible to support, maintain, and enhance our global Workplace Services environment. This role is responsible for the ongoing management of device imaging, patching, endpoint security, configuration management, software deployment, and the overall reliability of end user computing systems.
The ideal candidate has deep experience with SCCM, Intune, Windows OS, Group Policy, Azure VDI and automation, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where customer experience, security, and operational excellence are top priorities.
Profile Requirements
• Minimum 8 years of experience in End User Computing, IT Operations, or Workplace Services.
• Hands-on experience with:
o SCCM
o Intune
o VDI platforms (Azure, Citrix, VMware Horizon, etc.)
o Windows 10/11 imaging and deployment
o Group Policy administration
• Solid troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience with ITIL processes and service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strategic thinker with hands-on technical capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Endpoint Management & Deployment
• Build, maintain, and optimize Windows 10/11 images
• Provide MacOS support
• Develop and manage task sequences, driver packages, and automated provisioning workflows.
• Support full device lifecycle management including provisioning, refresh cycles, and OS upgrades.
Patching & Compliance
• Lead monthly OS and application patch deployment via SCCM and/or Intune.
• Monitor and improve global patch compliance metrics.
• Coordinate with Security for rapid response to critical vulnerabilities and baseline enforcement.
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
• Support, maintain, and administer the organization’s Azure VDI platforms
• Create and optimize golden images, application layers, and resource pools.
• Monitor VDI performance, resource utilization, and end-user experience using platform analytics and monitoring tools.
• Troubleshoot virtual desktops, connection issues, login delays, profile problems, and application performance issues.
• Coordinate with Infrastructure teams to ensure VDI environment stability, scalability, and patching (hypervisors, brokers, gateways).
• Support remote workforce enablement, ensuring VDI high availability and smooth operations.
• Implement security policies for VDI including MFA, Conditional Access, RBAC, and session controls.
• Assist in VDI capacity planning, rollout of new pools, and introduction of modern features or optimizations.
Configuration Management
• Manage and maintain Group Policies (GPOs), Intune configuration profiles, compliance rules, and remediation scripts.
• Ensure consistent and secure system configurations across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud endpoints.
Application Packaging & Deployment
• Package, test, and deploy apps using Intune, or VDI application layering tools.
• Maintain software catalogs and version lifecycle.
• Intune / Modern Device Management
• Support Intune device management including compliance policies, configuration profiles, and app delivery.
• Assist in ongoing modernization from SCCM to cloud-native management.
Operational Support
• Provide technical expertise for escalated endpoint and VDI incidents.
• Participate in change management, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
Automation & Reporting
• Use automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Develop and maintain reporting dashboards for patching, compliance, deployments, and VDI performance.
