The Shift Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of a manufacturing shift, supervising operators. This role ensures that production targets are met while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and efficiency. The Supervisor serves as a key liaison between the production floor and management, resolving operational issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of operators, ensuring smooth and efficient production flow.
  • Assign tasks to operators based on production schedules, capacity, and skill levels.
  • Monitor and evaluate operator performance, providing feedback, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Ensure production targets are met while maintaining product quality and minimizing downtime.
  • Coordinate with other teams (e.g., maintenance, product, process and quality team) to ensure resources are available for uninterrupted production.
  • Analyze production line needs and challenges. Spend time on helping removing obstacles encountered by operators, understand shift performance & challenges.
  • Systematically identify and define problems, understand their root causes, and develop potential solutions. It involves breaking down complex issues into manageable parts, using critical thinking to evaluate different aspects, and distinguishing between cause and effect.
  • Follow up and resolve any production issues in a timely manner to minimize disruptions.
  • Monitor product quality at various stages of production and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Work with the Process team to address any non-conformance or defects, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead or participate in QCC/Small Group Activities/5S or other improvement initiatives.
  • Encourage a mindset of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including output, downtime, and waste.
  • Prepare daily shift reports and communicate any significant issues to management.
  • Participate in production meetings and contribute to planning and scheduling decisions.
  • Enforce safety regulations and promote a culture of safety among operators.
  • Ensure that operators are trained and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, IT/computer science).
  • Good command of writing and spoken in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical and people management skills.
  • Able to work as a good team player.
  • Knowledge in semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent MS Office tools skills.
  • Posses good knowledge in reporting/automation will be an advantage.
