Position Overview

As a MPU Field Application Engineer you’ll be one of the key contributors in the Customer Application Support team supporting designs in Infrastructure(digital networking) and Industrial application spaces. You drive demand creation and design-in activity at customer sites in close cooperation with the NXP business lines; you provide technical skills & support to NXP’s sales staff by driving resolution of technical issues and identifying future roadmap needs of your customer(s). We rely on you to deliver the NXP value message in a persuasive and accurate manner to increase our market share.

Key Responsibilities for the role:

  • Deliver premium technical support in content and time to assigned customers
  • 100% Accountable to drive design wins in their target accounts and target technology
  • Leads proof of concept, solution design and demonstrations to secure NXP solution’s design-in
  • Synthesize customer and competitive insights to improve product definition and roadmaps
  • Establish the value proposition of NXP's system solutions relative to competition
  • Successfully build relationships with sales team members, business lines, partners and customers in support of sales team objectives
  • Analyze customer's technical objectives using relevant data gathering techniques enabling the sales team to be more productive, effective and responsive to customer needs
  • Assist in educating sales and distribution partners on new technologies, new product features and their related business value
  • Develop system level knowledge of target application spaces

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and minimum 3-5 years development engineering or applications support of SoC based embedded systems
  • Field Application Engineering experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of some of these typical hardware interfaces (Ethernet, PCie, SDIO, Modern DDR, SPI, MIPI, USB) on PowerPC or ARM Cortex A,M microprocessors
  • Hands on knowledge of ethernet datapath acceleration or graphics/video subsystems and related software drivers helpful
  • Knowledge in embedded Linux: kernel and user-space and uboot environments
  • Ability to read, understand and review schematics and provide design recommendations essential
  • Ability to take complex SoC system behavior, distill key information and apply methodical debug steps to diagnose and resolve customer issues. Proficient in using JTAG based tools.
  • Experience with custom board bring-up debug activities recommended
