Internship / Working Student: Development and Optimization of R&D KPI Reporting for NXP

Your Responsibilities

The objective of this assignment is to design, develop, and optimize a comprehensive reporting format for internal R&D data, focusing on key performance indicators (KPIs) and ongoing project metrics. The system should facilitate effective communication of R&D performance and progress to various stakeholders within the company. You will work with the R&D departments & Analytics and Program Support Team to gather requirements, analyze current reporting methods, and propose improvements or new methodologies for reporting R&D data. The focus will be on creating a user-friendly, insightful, and actionable reporting format that aligns with the strategic goals of NXP.

Tasks and Deliverables

Understanding Current Reporting Processes:

• Review existing R&D data reporting methods and tools used within NXP

• Identify key stakeholders and their reporting needs.

• Document current challenges and limitations in the existing reporting system

Data Collection and Analysis:

• Collect data on running R&D projects, including project milestones, budget, timeline, resource allocation, and performance metrics.

• Analyze R&D data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement on current way of reporting

Designing the Reporting System:

• Propose a reporting framework that addresses the identified needs and challenges.

• Design interactive dashboards and reports that provide clear insights into R&D performance.

• Ensure the design allows for easy updates and scalability as new data becomes available.

Implementation:

• Work together with the teams to select appropriate tools and technologies for implementing the reporting system (Power BI, Python, AWS).

• Develop prototypes and conduct user testing to gather feedback and refine the reporting system.

• Collaborate with IT and R&D teams to ensure data integration and system compatibility.

Documentation and Training:

• Document the reporting processes, including data sources, transformation logic, and visualization techniques.

• Create user manuals and training materials for stakeholders.

• Conduct training sessions to ensure smooth adoption of the new reporting system.

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:

• Implement a feedback mechanism to gather user input post-implementation.

• Analyze the impact of the new reporting system on decision-making and project management.

• Propose ongoing improvements to enhance the system’s effectiveness and efficiency.

Expected Outcomes:

• A detailed report outlining the current state of R&D reporting, identified challenges, and proposed solutions.

• A functional, user-friendly reporting system for R&D KPIs and project data.

• Recommendations for future enhancements and sustainability of the reporting system.

Your Profile

• Bachelor degree in Software Engineering, Information Science, Data Science, Data Engineering or similar studies

• Good communication skills in English (both verbal and written)

• Structural way-of-working with interest for the detail

• Pro-active, open-minded and flexible person

• Experience with or willingness to learn on MS Office (Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

• Experience with Power BI or similar visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau) Programming skills in VBA or DAX or scripting (e.g. Python)

Duration

The duration of the assignment will be a minimum of 6 months (20h/week) and will take place in NXP Nijmegen/Eindhoven. Please note that to be considered for this position, you need to be registered as a student during the entire period.
