The Staff Quality Assurance Engineer is a core member of a cross‑functional Scrum team, driving the overall quality strategy for advanced Nokia optical networking solutions. In this senior role, you will influence product architecture, guide best‑in‑class test practices, and ensure quality is embedded throughout the entire R&D lifecycle. You will mentor team members, lead complex quality initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement across multiple Agile teams in a multicultural, collaborative environment.

The Staff Quality Assurance Engineer is a core member of a cross‑functional Scrum team, driving the overall quality strategy for advanced Nokia optical networking solutions. In this senior role, you will influence product architecture, guide best‑in‑class test practices, and ensure quality is embedded throughout the entire R&D lifecycle. You will mentor team members, lead complex quality initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement across multiple Agile teams in a multicultural, collaborative environment.
  • Strong understanding of optical transmission fundamentals and system-level networking concepts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python-based test automation, including pytest, object‑oriented test design, and CI/CD integration.
  • Experience with AI/ML techniques applied to software quality, including:
    • AI-assisted test automation
    • Intelligent defect detection or result interpretation
    • AI-driven methods to scale test coverage or accelerate regression
  • Proven ability to lead quality initiatives, influence design decisions, and collaborate effectively with developers, product owners, and architects.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to guide discussions, document strategies, and share knowledge across teams.
  • High degree of ownership, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.

Requirements

  • MSc or BSc in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Physics, or related technical field.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • ISTQB certification is considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in large-scale automation, test frameworks, or AI-assisted testing.
  • Strong commitment to continual learning and applying emerging technologies to improve software quality.

The position covers the full Product R&D lifecycle, including:

  • Active participation in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily scrums, reviews, and retrospectives—bringing a strong quality mindset to requirement analysis, design discussions, acceptance criteria definition, early risk identification, and overall testability.
  • Design, development, and execution of automated tests using Python and pytest, fully aligned with the team’s Definition of Done.
  • Application of AI‑assisted testing techniques, including LLM‑supported test design, automated test generation, synthetic test data creation, and failure pattern analysis to enhance coverage, regression efficiency, and feedback speed.
  • Continuous improvement of test strategies and QA practices, including contributions to automation frameworks and modernization of Agile quality processes.
