As a Senior technical contributor for the design and development of optical line system products, you will work closely with our optical system design team to translate system requirements into product and then component specifications.

Responsible for optical design, calibration, optical DVT and debug of said products, including EDFAs, Raman amplifiers, FOADMs, ROADMs, OPM, OCM, optical switches, OTDR, spectrum equalizers and other advanced optical modules.

As an engineer within Nokia’s Optical Engineering Team focused on the next generation transponder/muxponder product family, you will work closely with x-functional teams including HW, DSP, FW, and SW, to optimize performance of client and line side optics. Responsibilities include writing test plans, executing design validation/testing, as well as reviewing test results to support full integration of the line modules on various product platforms and assisting product teams to drive product cost and performance.

You have:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Optics, Physics or Electrical Engineering
  • Optical systems engineering • Optical communications product design and development
  • Write engineering and design specifications
  • Write test plans, review test results and judge design margins to support compliance to specifications over life of product
  • Accountable leadership
  • Highly organized with strong attention to details
  • Superb communication: verbal and written

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a design and development function for optical line system products
  • 2 years of engineering experience with PhD in appropriate discipline •
  • 3 years of experience with MS
  • Prefer years of experience integrating various and adjacent disciplines for product development, as calibration automation, test automation, electrical, FPGA, FW, SW
