You will join the Research and Development 5G/6G Software team, responsible for developing software functionalities for Nokia’s 5G/6G base stations, delivering high-quality solutions to customers worldwide. As part of the MI MN RAN RD L3 SW TSR , you will work in an agile environment with two-week sprints, where trust and autonomy are encouraged. Each team member selects their tasks and collaborates daily to track progress and overcome challenges, ensuring continuous development and innovation.

Be part of the Nokia engineering team, as a 5G Software developer, contributing to various feature development life cycle activities (starting with specifications, coding, and testing) as a C++ Engineer. Starting with 2026, we will start development of Nokia's 6G portfolio. You will have the opportunity to contribute to 6G development using modern programming languages and technologies.

Must have:

  • Strong knowledge of latest C++ standards such as C++ 11 or above (14, 17)
  • Good STL knowledge (container, algorithm) and templating
  • Programming experience in Linux environment
  • Good memory management skills
  • Good understand of IPC and multithreading
  • RUST knowledge is an advantage, but not mandatory
  • Equally important, you are dedicated to learning, welcome feedback, show flexibility and take initiative.

Nice to have:

  • RUST programming language
  • Basic Python and/or Scripting knowledge
  • Knowledge of Jira, Jenkins
  • Familiarity with UML, XML diagrams
  • Experience with test driven development (ex. Google Test)
  • GIT, Gerrit, SVN
  • Knowledge on Agile methodology wireless technologies, cloud-computing platforms (OpenStack, Google Kubernetes, Docker, VM).

Nokia engineering teams are developing software functionalities in the 5G/6G telecom products and team members are contributing to various feature development life cycle activities (starting with specifications, coding, and testing).


For ongoing 5G projects, Software Developers' responsibilities relate to the following activities:

  • Create software design for ongoing features, based on software requirements
  • Develop code using the latest C++ standards (C++14 and onwards)
  • Develop automated unit tests and software component tests (using Gtest and Gmock) and deliver the feature in a CI pipeline
  • Contribute to specification reviews, code reviews, and test plan reviews
  • Collaborate with the testing teams and if needed, fix the bugs in the delivered features
  • Mentoring and guiding new team members
  • Constant learning and self-development

For 2026 planned 6G projects, you will have the opportunity to contribute to 6G development using modern programming languages and technologies. Previous experience in RUST is an advantage, but not mandatory for joining our teams.
