As a Mechanical Designer in the NI-IP Organization, you will be responsible for the design development of the latest products and prototypes. This position requires self-starters who can manage complex designs from initial concepts through to production release. You will work with highly motivated teams of engineering professionals and have personal responsibility to drive your designs through the process.

Are you a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate and ready to make an impact? We’re seeking passionate and innovative minds to join our team as Mechanical Design Engineers. In this role, you’ll collaborate with our R&D community to design and develop next-generation Telecom, Data Center, and Enterprise products that power the future of connectivity.
- Mechanical Engineering University degree from a recognized University
- Exposure to telecom electronic system packaging and mechanical design principles
- Understanding of thermal design for electronic equipment
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes (sheet metal, plastics, die casting)
- Familiarity with PTC Creo (PRO/E) CAD tools
- Awareness of PCB design and manufacturing methodologies
- Knowledge of telecom industry standards (Telcordia, ETSI) and regulatory product qualification
- Strong analytical skills, self-motivated team player with excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office tools and ability to build relationships across multiple teams
- Participate in the design and development of complex mechanical designs (product architecture, detailed specification definition for complex systems, technology (component) selection, and the application of design tools/methods
- Develop designs (piece parts and complex assemblies) with guidance and direction (sheet metal, plastic, extrusions, and cast parts, including fabrication techniques and tolerance analysis)
- Interface with supply chain and procurement with a focus on sheet metal, plastic, and cast designs, cabling, and manufacturability.
- Responsible for planning and execution of prototype builds for R&D consumption
- Provides sizing and estimates of work, and reviews product development schedules
- Decision-making to deliver on goals with supervision.
- Work is carried out in an office and clean lab environment, with limited to no exposure to disagreeable elements
