Nokia is seeking an on-site Optical Firmware System Integration Test (SIT) Engineer to enhance our optical firmware test environment in Ottawa, Canada. The role involves supporting hardware and software integration, conducting manual tests, and developing automated test scripts using Python on our PACE platform. You will design new test cases based on project requirements, analyze test reports for firmware issues, and ensure timely support for lab operations. Ideal candidates will possess strong Python skills, a background in optical communications, and excellent analytical abilities, contributing to our dynamic agile engineering environment as we tackle challenges in optical technology.
  1. Proficient in Python programming
  2. Experience with optical communication concepts
  3. Hands-on experience in an optical lab environment for hardware and software testing
  4. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  5. Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience


  1. Provide reliable on-site support for the optical Firmware System Integration Test (SIT) Ottawa lab, including setup of test equipment and optical components, 3+days/week is required in our office/lab
  2. Working with scrum team, conduct manual/auto testing for project use cases and investigate customer-related issues in the lab. Enhance existing Python scripts and design new test cases to meet project requirements.
  3. Automate testing processes on the PACE test platform using Python. Analyze test reports to allocate firmware bug responsibilities effectively.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline testing workflows and improve efficiency.
  5. Stay updated on industry trends and technologies relevant to optical firmware testing.
  6. Document test procedures and results for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
