Internship on Energy- and Bandwidth-Efficient Next-Generation TDM-PON

This Nokia Bell Labs internship seeks a highly motivated student to investigate intent-based and time-sensitive networking for next-generation Passive Optical Network and Fiber-To-The-Home technologies. The internship includes exploring inventive ways to optimize dynamic bandwidth allocation in terms of energy efficiency, throughput, and reliability, and to realize deterministic networking over PON enabling the support of time-sensitive industrial applications.
Internship on “Energy- and Bandwidth-Efficient Next-Generation TDM-PON for Converged Access”
Must-Have:
An enrolled PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field
A positive and open mindset and strong drive to succeed
Available for a duration of at least 3 months and up to 5 months
Fluent in English
Background in computer science, networking, and/or embedded systems
General understanding of network configuration (layer 2-3) and Linux
Hands-on experience with simulation tools and programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C/C++).
An affinity for or experience with optical telecommunication technologies
Early experience with experimental lab setups and high-end test equipment
Basic knowledge on data handling, analysis and creation of an App
Knowledge of time-sensitive networking
Demonstrated early research results through journal papers or other industry recognition
