Join our team as a Summer Intern and contribute to the development and application of quantum theory and technologies for secure communications, computation, and their convergence. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated doctoral student versant in quantum information science and related fields who can perform research at the forefront of quantum communications. The candidate will bridge theoretical concepts with practical implementations, advancing research in quantum communications and networking and their applications. You will support exploratory projects investigating foundational problems that can lead to new insights, enhanced products, or new business opportunities. If you are excited about applied research and eager to make an impact within the quantum domain, we encourage you to apply. This opportunity is for a summer internship conducted at Bell Labs headquarters in Murray Hill, NJ and a US citizenship or residency or US F1-CPT visa is required.
- Strong knowledge of quantum theory, quantum cryptography, and quantum error correction, and a strong foundation in the mathematics of quantum communications systems
- Demonstrable scientific programming skills and experience with quantum platforms, tools, and languages
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present work to technical and non-technical audiences
- A self-driven attitude, working independently with minimal supervision, unwavering commitment to team goals, and enthusiasm for tackling new challenges.
It would be nice if you also had:
- A sound understanding of Quantum Resource Theory
- Knowledge of network management and control
- Previous Nokia intern or co-op experience
As a research intern on our team, you will be involved in:
- Conducting research aimed at developing classical and/or quantum algorithms and protocols for control and security of quantum, classical, and hybrid communication systems, and security of integrated classical-quantum systems.
- Developing approaches for efficient utilization and management of quantum resources such as entanglement over distances,
- Explore new research challenges in operationalizing existing or new theories and models of quantum resources.
- Contribute to developing proof-of-concept demonstrations, knowledge sharing, and presentation of results to stakeholders
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers across teams and with partners
