This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation wireless technologies. You will collaborate closely with our research and engineering teams to advance 3GPP, AI-RAN, and O-RAN system design for 6G and beyond. Your work will help shape applied ML solutions for network optimization and enable service-aware, beyond-connectivity use cases that push the boundaries of cellular networks. You will play a key role in implementing innovative ideas within real-world platforms such as OpenAirInterface, followed by hands-on testing and validation in the lab. Your contributions will support high-impact research outputs, including submissions to top-tier venues and patent filings that strengthen Nokia’s technology leadership.
One or more of the following must-have skill-sets:
- Deep expertise in 3GPP architectures, protocol layers, and interfaces, with hands-on systems implementation experience.
- Strong background in applying AI/ML techniques to network optimization, control, or management.
- Established publication record demonstrating impactful research contributions.
It would be nice if you also had:
- Proven research experience with measurable results and contributions to advanced wireless systems.
- Ability to anticipate emerging research trends and identify high-impact directions for future work.
As a part of our team, you will be involved in the following key activities:
- Design next-generation (6G and beyond) systems based on 3GPP, AI-RAN, and O-RAN architectures.
- Apply machine learning techniques to optimize cellular network performance.
- Develop service-aware and network-application co-optimization solutions for beyond-connectivity use cases.
- Implement innovative algorithms and prototypes in real-world systems such as OpenAirInterface.
- Perform hands-on testing, validation, and performance benchmarking in lab environments.
- Document findings through publications at top-tier venues and contributions to patents.
