We are searching for an Electro-Optic Test Specialist to engage in the research and development of silicon photonics Integrated Circuits.

The Electro-Optic Test Specialist will be responsible for the test and validation of the silicon photonic chips and Optical Front Ends (OFE) , to ensure components and system requirements are met.

As an Electro-Optic Test Specialist you will be engaged in the development of advanced silicon photonics IC-based products. You will take responsibility for the characterization, testing and analysis of complex photonic devices and interconnects, as well as systems-on-chip. As a member of our silicon photonics design team, you’ll be working alongside other experienced and multidisciplinary teams and agile silicon photonics designers with strong records of delivering innovative photonic device designs and large-scale silicon photonics circuits.

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or Applied Physics.
  • Experience in testing fiber optic components, working with test and measurements equipment commonly used in optical telecommunications.
  • Experience in Electro-Optical (EO/OE) testing.
  • Hands-on experience in Photonic Integrated Circuits device characterization.
  • Strong lab skills in optical testing, fiber-waveguide coupling, and design verification.
  • Solid understanding of optics and electromagnetics.

It would be nice if you had:

  • Knowledge of coherent optical communications.
  • Knowledge of test automation.
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms for coherent optical communications.
  • Programming skills with a solid understanding of fiber and integrated optics.
  • 2+ years of experience in silicon photonics design, testing, and characterization.

You will contribute to the development of complex Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC) and systems for next-generation coherent transceiver technologies.

This also involves:

  • Assess test requirements and collaborate with design team to implement comprehensive design verification test plans.
  • Develop test algorithms to ensure product performance and quality.
  • Generating detailed design verification documents to report performance of PICs and OFE
  • Evaluate new test approaches for both PIC and OFE level.
  • Provide support for failure analysis.
  • Support the bring-up of new photonic circuits and modules before release to production
